Opioids Dilaudid used in lethal injections? WTF?

they use it when putting animals down, alongside with ketamine pretty often. its humane imo.

A significant dose of hydromorphone and midazolam without respiratory support would easily cause death, IMO.
 
Yeah, a SIGNIFICANT dose could/would cause death. But the doses they're using.. aren't really that high. They're using...

• 40 milligrams Hydromorphone.
• 10milligrams Versed.

I mean, those are by NO means huge doses, and for someone with even a decent habit, they would hardly be considered "lethal." Someone with a habit would get that shot, scratch their nose, then ask for another one ten minutes later. It's actually quite a joke. I <3 Ohio!

...Now, I'm waiting for someone to come in here & tell me that you can't have a habit in prison. Lawl.

If you gotta die a big shot of dilaudid would be top of my list. That would be a humane way to do executions- A lethal injection of your DOC. I think if you've been setting on death row a few years chances are your tolerance won't be very high. Sure you can get them but the prices are nuts.
 
they try thiopental sodium before the hydro+midaz though, i dont think youd be feeling to great

edit* not to mention you sit on death row for a while before they do it, and i dont think its too easy to get drugs on death row to keep your tolerance

Well, as your link explains, it is a backup means of execution. I'd never personally heard of hydromorphone used in lethal injections until now. A quick google of it brought it up just for use in Ohio. But I didn't look for long.
 
this would be a great way to go out.... super humane. it would be like dying from cumming too hard and having an aneurysm and dying instantly

40mg of hydromorphone in a single shot is a HUGE dose unless you've got a massive habit. And no, it's not hard to have a habit in prison, but it IS a lot harder in death row.
 
yes, I too was thinking that 40mg of hydromorph is huge. now, I know I'm not the person with the biggest habit, I do shots of morphine around 100mg and oxycodone 120-160mg at a time, and I've been scared by 12mg shots of hydrmorph for a second (thats about how long the high lasts)
