Dilaudid - unexpected effects

wondering if anyone has any input on this - after 4 months of IV use of H (8 to 10 doses per day) the decision was made to get off H, and back to long term oxycodone 5mg 4x daily. Refusing to cop H, decided to aquire 15 (8mg) Dilaudid. The needle ritual continued to call, so broke them down with micro filter and IV'd 2 pills a day for a few days, then 1 a day until they were gone (about one week). I understand pills and IV are not good together, but thats what went down. After the week ended I expected severe WD, the H is medium quality, and waited to get sick. Experienced almost no WD symptoms, except for trouble falling asleep which was easily remedied by cough medicine. Waited a few more days and nothing. 5 to 10 mg oxycodone per day has kept WD away, even giving the brightened mood one might expect. 2 weeks later and still the oxy is working fine to ward off WD. :?

Has anyone had a similar experience, or have any insight as to how this would work out? The Dilaudid was very salty/acidic feeling and often made me want to sleep, which leads me to believe it effects brain receptors differently, almost like scrubbing the plaque out, but I have no way of supporting that thought.

Anyone at all have any insight or even guess as to how or why that just happened?

Thanks for any input on the matter.

I don't get how the mods know where to move things always ... Is there a manual they give you guys when you become moderators lol?

They all affect your mu receptors. Hydromorphone has a very short half life, especially when IVd. The oxycodone has a longer half life. That might explain why you don't feel sick.

If your asking why you didn't feel sick for the days after is because you are taking oxy. Try taking nothing and see how that does you. You may be singing a different tune.

First off, thank you for your reply. to clarify, after the week of dilaudid i did, like i said above (maybe not clearly)- take nothing except for some tussin to go to sleep. that went on for 6 or 7 days until my oxy filled....just tussin to sleep. what I am wondering is this - is there something about dilaudid (like a Ph factor or something else I am not educated on) that (as a guess) strips plaque from H from the receptor...and if there is, could this be helpful to someone else? I have become physically dependent on H many times over the last 20 +/- years, I have gotten off of it as many times...off for like 2 years at one point (not the same as total recovery, I know) But never so easily, this last stint was my steepest habit for sure, and first episode of IV use - as stated above 8 to 10 shots per day for 4 months. So the real question in my mind is how the hell is 5mg oxy enough to maintain wellness? That just doesn't correlate with any of my past experience. It seems there has to be something about Dilaudid itself. If I was snorting a bundle a day for four months I would expect way more WD, and I guess I was expecting an IV habit to be harder to kick, not easier.

the cosmos smiled on you. I would take this opportunity to lay off the opiates as no doubt that is what the cosmos are telling you!/

right on. and thanks, i believe we are on the exact same page. advice taken, thanks.
