Opioids Dilaudid Question!!!!

So I just got out of surgery and they prescribed me 2 mg Dilaudid. I am used to doing oxycodone (roxicets) 30 mg and may not be able to get any until the end of this week. How many of these would I have to take to get at least something of the same effect that a roxy would give me? When I do blues I do them orally, I do not snort because it doesn't last as long and I don't want my tolerance to sky-rocket. So I do not plan on snorting these and please, do not tell me "oh, not snorting them is a waste...". How much orally would be best? Thanks!

The only experience I have with them is 4mg's and when I got them I hadn't had anything in a while. I took em one at a time and after my tolerance went up a little I would take two. Sorry I'm not much help here.

6-7.5mg of Hydromorphone oral = roughly 15-20mg oxycodone oral according to tables in Australian medicine handbook. so looks like the dilaudid is twice as strong. so just try a couple and see how it feels. it's always best to start low, you can go up from there. it is very silly to start high - you can't take it out of your body once in. Dilaudid lasts half as long as OXy, unless you had the sustained release type of oxys.

Anyway, follow the directions on the bottle. If your comfortable there, then step it up a bit. Start slowly and work your way up. Its easy to go up but you cant always go down.

So say your bottle says: "Take one tablet by mouth 4x daily"

Then take one tablet. If it feels good after an hour and you feel you could handle more, take a half tab. Wait 45 mins-hour and if you want to, dose that other 1 mg. Thats how you can figure out where your comfortable and how to help yourself in that regard.

Best bet: Follow your doctors orders.

8mg of oral hydromorphone will be egui-analgesic to 30mg oxy.
