What do you guys think about this combo? I usually take 150 mg of DHC to give me a nice, couple of hour warm/fuzzy/euphoric nod (my opiate tolerance is moderate-low), and on other days I take 1-2 mg of Lorazepam (Ativan brand)... I've never taken the two together for some reason.

What do you think about this combo? Relatively how much better will it be than just the DHC alone? I've heard very mixed reviews amongst peers so I'm asking the experts;) I know Benzo's don't necessarily potentiate DHC, but might magnify the nicer aspects of the high and add to the sedation. True?

Lastly, in general how should I time it out. I think the lorazepam takes longer to metabolize, so how should one space out the dosing?

Thanks in advance...

Hi, you can take a low dose of lorazepam with your 150mg DHC. But don't go overboard, they potentialize each other. Start low, 1mg, and if it isn't enough you can always take 1 more mg later on. Remember, you can always take more but once it's swallowed you cannot take less ;)

The general rule of thumb when it comes to combining CNS depressants is to take a lower dosage of both substances to be sure of safety.

I'd suggest ~100mg of DHC and 1mg of Lorazepam. And ofcourse the golden rule is:

You can always take more but you can never take less once it's taken!!!

yeah you wanna be careful with the benzo's and opiates if not for the hellish addiction they can both cause for the fact that i have read many horror stories with the two being mixed, with them when it goes wrong the consiquences are scarily unforgiving, i had a friend in a coma from benzo's and opiates and read of many people dying too, however i've also read many people living to so moderate your doses and be careful, the key in living the healthiest possible relationship with drugs is respect, moderation and titration of doses :)

if you take to much benzo it can dull out the opiate experience. if your looking for just a nice boost in effects start with a lower dose of the benzo. something like 125/.5mg then go from there in finding out what works best for you. i have a 3mg clonazepam tolerance and .5 lorazepam added to my opiate dose(20mg oxy) boosts the effects great. but even if i cut the dose down to 10mg oc and add 1mg lorazepam i get to sleepy and don't enjoy the high as much. my favorite is when i can get .5 lorazepam so i can break in two and take .25mg with my opiate dose. it's the perfect amount of potentiation for me. no dulled effects whatsoever.

of course there are other who will disagree and enjoy a bigger dose of a benzo with their opiate. it's all in what you're looking for.

be safe as you are a first timer so starting small is imperative. opiates and benzos are safe to take together and are routinely prescribed simultaneously. the danger comes in when get careless upping the dose or are inexperienced and dose to high.

You won't much lorazepam to add to the dihydrocodeine. In fact, I'd recommend only 0.5 mg. Take the lorazepam before or at the same time you take the dihydrocodeine so it doesn't "kill" the high at all. 0.5 mg lorazepam should not really add to the sedation a lot, but it will have an effect, even if it is subtle. Enjoy the opiate high, don't think about how the lorazepam is influencing it too much, because you don't want it too influence the high that much. But yeah, it will be a tad more sedating, and your muscles will be a bit more relaxed.

You people are stealing my motto

"You can walways start low and add more, but you can't start high and take it away"

In any case, potentiaters/magnifiers, start low and work your way up in my opinion

DHC is the least liked opiate by me. I have taken DHC with .5mg of Ativan & like others have stated, it is more sedating & you will be more relaxed. I have also mixed Ativan with Norcos & I enjoyed that combo more. I try not to use Ativan alot because after a few hours after using it, I get really tired.

^Lorazepam is certainly one of the more sedating benzos, but for some people it's not that bad. I find clonazepam to be more sedating at equipotent doses...but I've been using (prescribed) lorazepam for a while now, so I've got a tolerance too.

As others have said, OP, be careful when mixing these twos. The "you can always take more, you can never take less" rule applies here, as does the usual caution about mixing two depressants. DO NOT mix alcohol in with this mixture.

Thanks for all the in depth responses. I tried the entire spectrum up to my normal dose of Lorazepam (0.25, 0.5, 1.0 mg) with my normal DHC dose of 150 mg. I think pretty much everyone nailed it: 1.0 mg took away from the high a bit and made me sleepy/sedated (although still nice), and .25 was barely enough to notice a difference mores than maybe placebo. I found that 0.5 Lorazepam was perfect- it was relaxing and added to the high.
And yes I'm fully aware of the severity of overdoing this combo, that's why I wanted to ask before I tried even though all my doses are fairly small.
I agree with one sentiment above that DHC isn't the best opiate, but it's what I have. I'm sure Norco's or Percs would be better for this combo, but I think DHC is an acquired taste, and one can't appreciate it until it's only what you have.

Well i'm glad it all worked out for you in the end hatteras123.

I'm going to close this now as you've got your answer, done your dose and the thread has run its course.

If you wish to have it reopened or have any problems PM me.
