hey what effects does dihydrocodeine have on your body when the pills are Dihydrocodeine Tartrate - no apap, i have moved from codeine because of the paracetamol and really dont want to damage my liver because i drink fairly often , i want to know what effects alcohol and DHC may have on the body in particular, i know its unsafe to drink and take any other deppresant (resipitory depression etc.) so i don't need any info on that, i want more of a detail on what it does to your organs.

thanks.

It's an opiate just like codeine is...and does the same things to your organs that other opiates do.

The same dangers exist when it comes to mixing it with alcohol, as you mentioned.

yeah but thats not my concern, i wont be drinking with the DHC, i just want to know if it puts the liver under stress more so than usual when drinking alcohol, all the anwers i could find were with regard to the paracetamol content, but that obviously isn't an issue when dealing with the pure salt form.

also wouldn't is being an active drug change its effects on the liver when compared to codeine, because of different metabolic processes?

No, they are metabolized in the same fashion.

I would be more concerned about your kidneys with high doses of either codeine or DHC.

The alcohol is going to add to the CNS depression and euphoria.
It also make the liver enzymes higher. This means that your DHC won't last as long.
