how come different types of alcohols give you a different drunk? like i like the drunk off beer way better more than off hard shit. Also different liquors give me a different high

What a bunch of assholes on here.........if you don't like someone's post, don't reply

Anyway to the OP, I know what you're talking about, like wine gives me a weird kind of buzz that I don't like, than harder stuff, don't know the reason, but it works for me.......

its not that im an asshole, its that i find it funny that it was a post about drunk, and he's obviously drunk posting

or stupid

IMO it's all in your head...well for the most part. In my younger years I used to think whiskey and tequila would make for more of a "wild" drunk. I think it was just associations i made in my head. like "last time i drank whiskey i got really trashed and acted like an idiot" so i'd expect to act wild and crazy if i drank whiskey. Kind of a self fulfilling prophecy.

The only differences I can tell is the time it takes for me to feel a buzz and how much I have to drink to get a buzz. I have to drink alot of beer to get drunk, so the drunk feels more lethargic (mostly because it takes more time to drink lots of beer than hard liquor, and because my stomach would be so filled with beer I'd feel kinda crappy).
If i slam a few shots of hard liquor in one gulp, it hits me harder the come up is faster.
But it's all ethanol. The only thing that makes the perceived differences is the proof of the alcohol. of course stronger stuff will hit you harder and have a slightly different feel because you come up faster.

Does absinthe count? Its the only alcohol I tried that had any difference in effects. Drunk is drunk otherwise.

Different types of alcohol get you drunk at different rates. Otherwise, I firmly believe that any difference is all in your head becauase alcohol is alcohol.

The buzz can feel different for certain things because some like southern comfort have a hella high sugar content. Things like Jager have other roots and herbs in them. Wine has tannins and many other things that I would think could give you a different feel. Another thing is the speed on onset and there is also placebo. Maybe someone here could give us some science behind it but anyone who drinks can definitely tell you different types of beers and liquors give you a different buzz.

wine= blows my head off (very diff. buzz)

beer= makes me lethargic and dosile

spirits= get me on a mad one/ hyped up... until i end up puking my guts out

I think (red?) wine has gbh in it, don't even know if it's enough to cause any effect. Otherwise, like others have said it's all alcohol.

There are slight differences in all the different forms of alcohol. The people who say they can't feel a difference clearly don't drink that often.

It would be like telling a stoner that different strands of marijuana don't ever give different feeling highs.

The reason different drinks hit you differently is how strong they are, absorption rates, the other ingredients... etc.

I don't know the scientific reasons for all of them... but absinthe is a more lucid drunk due to the wormwood... tequila is more stimulating because it is made from agave.

Beer tends to feel heavier than liquor when you are drunk because you have to drink way more fluids.

When I am drunk off wine it definitely feels different than beer or liquor.

I don't drink much but when I do I like to drink rum with coca cola or glava on the rocks..

I probably only get drunk 1 or 2 times a year. I will have social drinks occasionally though.

i don't care what anyone says - different alcohols have different affects period. Whiskey makes me very violent where as beer and other stuff doesn't. It's not psychosematic (however you spell that) because I never went into thinking it would be that way, I just happen to realize it after a few experiences. And people on here need to be nicer, seriously, what's with all the mean stuff? why is that neccessary? 8)

I know that red wine either has, or has something that synthesises into, melatonin.
