I take Demerol and Oxycdone, and sometimes they give me very energized high, and other times it makes me extremely drowsy. What could be causing these reactions?

well Demerol has a nasty metabolite called normeperidine which can cause nervousness, dysphoria, hallucinations and seizures. If you take it on a regular basis especially near the max dose of 400mg's a day you would be seriously pushing it and asking for a seizure. Demerol is also a mild anti-cholinergic so it can cause the regular anti-cholinergic effects such as drowsiness, dry mouth and delirium. The metabolite normeperidine has stronger anti-cholinergic effects then meperidine.

As for oxy it can be a stimulating opiate anyway.

For me personally, whenever I take oxy, sometimes I get up and clean and do everything that I need to get done. Other times I nod out and lay in bed for the entire ride. It usually depends on what I'm doing when it starts kicking in. If I'm up and doing things, I get the speedy high, if I'm laying in bed when I start feeling the magic, then I should plan on being there a couple hours. Pay attention to what activities you are doing when you take it and see if you have a similar correlation. =)
