difference between strains of weed and hash

Are you sure you don't mean the legendary hash laced with opium, MDB?

That's one I've heard time and again. Doesn't seem all that cost effective IMO, as from what I can gather it was sold at hash prices, possibly with a little premium.

im pretty sure the stories doing the rounds in Sunderland was that there was some hash around that was laced with heroin, not opium. I dont think i knew anything about opium at that time, so i can feel quite certain of this. The whole thing might just have been dodgy dealer sales pitch though. Opium would make more sense though i suppose, same colour ? Readily smokeable in the same manner as hash ? Though i suppose streaks of powdered white lines throughout chunks of hash would look pretty appealing too.

Have you ever obtained opium hash ? Sounds like a damn fine 'cocktail' to me. If SR hadnt been closed I'd have sampled opium by now, it was getting nearer to the top of my to do / buy next list, but i missed that opportunity to sample it. I wonder if this years wild somniferum poppies will yield much in the way of actual opium oooze. That would be nice to think so, but im not getting my hopes too high.

Ah yes hash laced with opium!

I thought it was done on purpose, and as you said with a premium price tag.

Meh opi-hash aint all that, it doesnt burn properly so you end up wasting it, I made it a few times when i was bored n had far too much opium on my hands

ended up eating the stuff in the end

So your saying its opium laced with hash...... interesting :sus:

when I made it I used 3g of refined indian opium (looked like amber glass) that I crushed up to a paste and mixed in 3g of frozen caramello hash that I put in a grinder till it was dust, mixed the 2 together n rolled a joint, that didnt work too well lol.

Then I tried chasing it on foil n only really got an opium hit so thgt fuck it n ate the lot in 1g lumps.

Got me VERY high when I ate it but I was just gutted i hadn't of kept em separate as the hash was really expensive!

That definitely does exist but it ain't common to say the least. You can tell instantly cos opium tastes very distinctive (as does hash) and you can very clearly taste both as well as feeling both. Very nice stuff but good luck finding any.

thanks for replies clearly a lot of stoners on here! =D

by the sounds of it i think i would prefer the indicia strain as i find a lot of times i get too many racey thoughts if i smoke a lot of weed and get jittery too so maybe i'm smoking sativa strains. i'm not a heavy toker these days aand just enjoy the odd spliff now and then so haven't got a high tolerance and would prefer something not too overpowering.

a mate of mine told me he can get some afgan hash called mazar sharif. i looked it up on the net and it seems to be a indica strain, has anybody here tried this stuff? seems nice

How many strains of weed or hash have you tried and do you think there is much difference in the high between strains?
Many, and yes. I generally prefer ones that are predominately indica.

I've had some which had surprisingly trippy/unpleasant effects and gave me a bad hangover/headachey/blargh the day after, but it could have just been a strong sativa that hadn't been flushed of fertilisers/etc properly. As for the opium thing, yeah, I was in a similar discussion elsewhere and the consensus there was that it might have happened occasionally, but was very rare.

I haven't seen contaminated weed for years now. Weed is generally expensive but good now from what I've seen. I have never bought weed online though.

To the original question, yes there is a massive difference between the highs from different strains.

so has anyone tried mazar sharif hash? hoping to get something different from the usual stuff, you know the 'lemon kush innit' bregade

Yes its strong Afghani hash from an Indica plant. Its also virtually impossible to get in Holland now let alone England so if you really can get some, I'm pointing fingers at British squaddies smuggling it in.

^FUBAR, that's the CD thread about contaminated weed. The first processed weed was gritty, like had sand or ground glass in it, you could tell by licking a finger and sticking it in, it would leave palpable particles on your fingers. Then came a different kind, that was soaked or sprayed in something, it never quite dried, was sort of oily, and didn't burn right, left horrible hard black ash.

Yeah Mazar-i-Sharif is just good Afghan hash, but almost all Afghan hash these days is adulterated and shit. If it leaves hard, dark cinders, it's crap. Soft, fluffy, light-coloured ash is what you want. Personally, I preferred good Moroccan over anything else when I smoked, but it's a taste thing. Yeah, there is a difference between strains, and types of hash. Here's a big ol' guide to hash from the BL Wiki:
Hand-rubbed hashish
This is probably the oldest method of hashish manufacture. It is most commonly performed in South Asia- Indian charas and Nepalese hash are possibly the best known examples of hashish produced in this manner. Hand-rubbed hash, as the name suggests, is produced by rubbing living cannabis plants with the bare hands. The sticky resin glands collects on the hands, and can then be scraped off to produce hashish. Hand rubbing is a low-yielding and labour intensive process. Hash produced by hand rubbing is characteristically soft in texture and dark in colour- the type of hash that is often known by the term "squidgy black". This is due to the high proportion of resin glands that are burst in the collection process, and this property, along with a relatively high moisture content, causes hand-rubbed hash to degrade in potency faster than most other kinds of hashish. Hand rubbed hash is commonly distributed as balls or fingers. Charas tends to have a peppery flavour and a dense smoke. The vast majority of hand-rubbed hash available in Europe is quite heavily adulterated, with substances such as ghee (clarified butter), turpentine and candle wax, as well as agents to bind the hashish and give it a sticky texture, and thus the illusion of high quality. Imported hand-rubbed hash often spoils in transit, resulting in telltale streaks of white mould in the piece. Smoking mould is potentially dangerous, and spoiled hashish should not be purchased.

Sieved hashish
This style of hashish manufacture is typical of Lebanon and Afghanistan. It is also the method used to produce Moroccan hash, as hippies introduced a version of the Lebanese process to North Africa. In order to produce sieved hash, the mature cannabis plants are first harvested and dried. They are then threshed over a sieve, which causes the resin glands to detach and collect beneath. The raw resin powder is then pressed. The resin powder can be pressed by hand, but a mechanical press is more commonly used. Some hash is very lightly pressed, giving the finished product a crumbly texture and a pale appearance. Lebanese hashishes are characteristically pressed lightly. The powder can also be exerted to greater pressure, resulting in a harder, denser piece that is a darker shade of brown. Traditional Afghani hash was quite pale in colour, but the modern commercial product is very dark, almost black, soft, and adulterated. Confusingly, this kind of hash is also known as "squidgy black". Most Afghani hash, when smoked, leaves the hard cinders that are typical of diluted hashish. Lebanese hash has become very scarce since the 2006 conflict with Israel, and Afghan hash is also increasingly rare. The majority of sieved hash on the market comes from Morocco, the world's largest producer of hashish. There is some very high quality Moroccan hash on the market; the best imported hash available in Dutch coffeeshops is generally from Morocco. However, much of the Moroccan hash available in Europe has been heavily adulterated to produce the product known in the United Kingdom as “soapbar”. It is often possible to observe visible pieces of plastic in a piece of hash of this kind.“Soapbar” is very hard, and will not soften with the application of body heat. In fact, “soapbar” can generally not be broken up for consumption without being subjected to direct flame. Hashish of this grade is dangerously impure and should not be consumed.

Water-extracted/ice hashish
Water extracted hashish is a modern Western invention. The process involves first harvesting and drying the cannabis, then adding it to ice-cold water and agitating it. The light plant matter floats, while the dense resin glands sink. The process can be achieved with nothing but a container of water, but screens of various pore sizes are generally used for convenience and efficiency. Western produced ice hash is generally very strong. The process is also very efficient, and yields can reach double those possible with dry sieving. The highest quality ice hash bubbles and melts under the heat of a flame. This grade of hashish is known as “full melt”, and the tendency to bubble has given rise to the term “bubble hash” to denote not only full melt, but any ice hash. The high from ice hash is generally very clear, cerebral and lucid. The water extraction process strips the cannabis of many of the aromatic terpenoids that contribute to the taste and smell of the final product. As a result, a relative poverty of flavour in comparison to traditionally produced hashish is typical of ice hash. Ice hash can exhibit a range of appearances; however, it will always be shiny, granular when broken, and sticky. Water-extracted hash is rarely adulterated. However, it will spoil if the resin powder is not dried properly after extraction.

Hash Oil
Extracts of cannabis produced using solvents, rather than mechanically, are not hashish, despite their common name. These extracts can be extremely potent, up to 70% THC. Hash oil reached the peak of its popularity in the 1970s; since that time, the inconvenience and messiness of use, and the increasing trend for domestic production rather than importation of cannabis, has resulted in a relative scarcity of hash oil. In the 1970s, most hash oil was produced by persons with some experience of chemistry using relatively sophisticated set-ups to reflux the cannabis for an extended period of time. However, hash oil is now more commonly made by simple processes, involving little more than immersing the cannabis in a solvent briefly, and then letting the solvent evaporate.
Almost all the info there is from the book "HASHISH!" by Robert Connell Clarke, which is a fantastic read, covering all aspects of the history, culture, science and trivia surrounding everyone's favourite smokeable brown stuff (pipe down junkies, this is a stoner thread).

I've not smoked weed for a long time now so I would also be interested if anyone could recommend some weed that's not too strong and just gives a nice gentle chilled out buzz.
Some weed I smoked before gave me a fucking panic attack so want to stay away from that kind of stuff.

Strains with good amount of CBD, pineapple express is a good strain for strength but lacks the anxiety i find.
