Stimulants Difference between 'Ice' and 'Meth'? (Aussie)

until recently i thought 'ice' was just an australian term for crystal methamphetamine but i have been told that the two are actually different but appear the same. crystal meth being more rare in australia and more potent but destructive in nature. It was also mentioned that 'shabu' is the common term for ice in america. is this true?
 
Street slang of drugs means different things in different countries.
