difference between an 8th and 5g of mushrooms

i've eaten an 8th of shrooms multiple times and it's always been my sweet spot. i usually trip balls but i never feel the need for any more. i've found a really good hook for shrooms though and i'm getting some weight. i want to try 5g. is the step up pretty big or what? what gets more intense? i usually shroom for it's healing properties. i like to gain new perspectives and see life in a different way. will 5gs absolutely put me out of this world? is it best to eat it all at once? i'm not expecting too much because i don't wanna ruin the trip but i want to know if it's completely different from eating an 8th...
 
Hard to really say exactly since different species have very different degrees of potency. You should eat it all at once though since redosing will most likely just make you trip longer not harder

Depends on a number of factors....how often do you trip on shrooms (or other substances with cross tolerance), quality difference between the 'new' and previous shrooms and other factors.

Going from 3.5 to 5 grams can be a big step up, but could also be a big disappointment depending on strength.

I personally would eat them all at once (I'm not saying this flippantly) if you want to experience the full effect as a bolus. This might sound odd, but I've experienced mushrooms as easier when on high doses (3.5+ grams) than on lower ones. Ego loss/softening, out of body experiences and the impossibility of recognizing my own face in a mirror are some of the things that I enjoy on higher doses.

Good luck and I'm interested to find out how you like it. And if you do, you might find the urge to try higher doses still again :)

Maybe you would do well to look up the dosage calculator on The Shroomery, including their legend to 5 different levels of mushroom trips. You are likely to step up 1 if not 2 levels, which invites a whole new set of associated effects.

While the lower to mid range levels have effects that are mostly partially distorting, if you go higher there can be a more dramatic change / alteration of perception. You can move from time dilation to a feeling of timelessness, you can move from feeling weird to not feeling like you are a person at all, etc, etc.

You would do well not to underestimate such effects, and to make extra sure that your set and setting are in order. The fact that you never felt the need for more than 3.5 gr already suggests that more may be overwhelming. I wouldn't try to convince you to reconsider upping the dose altogether, but +43% is a lot and I have personally gotten into trouble with such an increase.

Why not jump up in smaller increments? You need to account for the variance in potency as well, because one mushroom can be a lot stronger than another even in the same batch. So if you account for that, maybe +15% in 3 steps is wiser: 3.5 -> 4 -> 4.5 -> 5 grams.
I am not sure how often you trip, but if it is frequent I don't see why you should be impatient. You can also decide to go in 2 steps, jumping to 4.25 g for now.

Make up your own mind, but if you come back with complaints I might say 'I told you so'. :)
But seriously: I have heard many a time that people bought portions of mushrooms in the smartshop here, and one person ended up eating someone else's leftovers which would realistically mean something like going from 3 g to 4.5 g or something... and it was a trip of a lifetime, certainly not all good, and far too often even traumatic.

So just take it easy and you will still get there soon enough, knowing more of the dosage range.
 
From 3.5 to 5 grams. Yeap, makes perfect sense. That's what I call a reasonable psychedelic drug use!
 
Might be the thing to do, but make sure you don't have to be social at all, and have the possibility of laying in a comfy bed with sheets that you won't hate yourself for pissing in. If you have like 10grams I'd try eating 3.5 of this new batch first to see how they compare to the shrooms you have been eating. I've had stronger trips on 3grams of damn fine p. cyan than on 6-7grams of good cubes.
If they are as good as the ones you have been eating you can expect interactive CEVs, becoming convinced you've died/gone mad, though if that happens early in the trip it normally turns into something stunning and magical.
 
yeah with my second mushroom trip (and the last one i had), i ate a dose way higher than expected (it was actually only 2.5g of cubes but they were much stronger than i've thought), and experienced a near-death-experience which basically changed how i look at reality and existence, even now, over one year later. i also developed anxiety and derealization in the months following the experience (even though i don't think the trip was the only reason for that but it definately played a role).

I'm not saying you should not do it, but rather be as safe and prepared as possible. if i would have been, maybe these months after my trip might have been easier.

What do you usually do when you take your 3.5g dose? Simply sitting or lying down in a dark, silent room with your eyes closed an no distractions can make a trip much more intense even without bumping up the dose. Be sure that you are comfortable with that before you try eating grams at once.
