Die to Life,
by rewired,
8/28/03.
There's a monkey on my back
whispering horrors into my ear,
tightening his grip on my neck
as I still fear what's
beyond this fear.
Bridges burning, blazing brightly,
legs aren't moving just to spite me.
Shadows growing beneath my feet,
ready to rise and
swallow me.
Once heard the Child, crying madly,
embraced and embodied then through candy;
the Child grinned broadly, eyes saw through me,
brought me to see ground, the sound of
children playing.
And the eyes of that ever-distressed damsal
a beauty still haunting after all this time
why can I see so clearly when hope is so distant
and when her hand was open I was so blind?
Kill me softly, considerately,
obliterate all that I've become.
But if I'm dying, you're dying with me:
we'll burn each other, rise from
ashes as one.
Let go into all that could be.
I've got to recalibrate and integrate me;
bring lessons learned back to earth and life.
Break the cycles, expand circles, spirals.
Grow at the edges, travel in a straight line.
I should have died here years ago,
but I'll always love her, I know she knows.
I should have died for her years ago,
but I'll always love me, from mask to soul.
I'll bring out the light in me,
I'll shine brightly for the world to see.
I'll find my own way to be all I can become:
all I've been seeking, all I've been running from.
Damn these chains and inhibitions:
monkey and shadow: anger and fear in me.
The path to wholeness speaks through her brilliant eyes:
she is my guide, my anchor; she completes me.
There is a child growing in me
calling out to let go in life and play.
There is a maiden in the darkness
seeking hand in marrage:
the night to the day.
Children laughing, maiden sighs,
horse before the cart; bright eyes,
broad smile, heart light.
Looking deep into those blue eyes,
Swallowed pride, heart wide,
ready as ever to fight.
Let go into all that could be.
Children laughing, maiden sighs,
horse before the cart; bright eyes,
broad smile, heart light.
Looking deeper into those brown eyes in
those blue eyes in those brown eyes:
we unite, and I die to life.
