Im just wondering how many people were into "drug" music (for e.g. lou reed etc..) before they became addicted and whether their musical tastes altered drastically after they became involved with heroin.
There is definetly a link between say, some kurt cobain fans and the romanticism of heroin/suicide.Can you truly enjoy/relate to this type of music without these experiences

I used to be into grunge music, and The Velvet Underground, many many years before picking up heroin, using needles, etc.

The music in no way influenced my decision to pick up using dope. Alice In Chains, for example, kept me from trying heroin for a long time; Layne Staley's portrayal of the dismal mindset associated with that particular subculture rung true of pure inner turmoil, guilt and emotional vacancy.

Music is music; I don't need to have IV'ed tongs of heroin and lost all my self-worth to extract enjoyment from a great tune. To me, that notion is nothing short of ridiculous.
