Did you relapse your first time trying to quit?

I'm sorry to be crass but, why are you on this site?

Would the people at your meetings go on a site dedicated to drug use? Even if it is harm reduction.

That simply doesn't make any sense.

Coming on here and preaching 12 steps is fine, if you believe it. That still doesn't answer why you're here in the first place.

-Akomplice

Well Akomplice, I am not "preaching" anything AT ALL!!!
Please let me make that clear!!! I am in no place to even if I wanted to.
I was simply stating what worked for me at one time.

I am still out there doing all sorts of nonsense hense the reason I am here...There ya go
Plain and simple

Cheers

It took me 3-4 rehabs before I got some serious clean time. I did like 11 months just suboxone, caffeine and nicotine. Mostly because i was living in a sober halfway house and had the higher power of probation to keep me (mostly) in line. I also was going to AA 2-5 times a week, I completed all 12 steps with a sponsor, had a home group, completed inpatient, outpatient and the halfway house. After moving out of the halfway house I stopped putting in effort for my sobriety and started dabbling in psychedelics and cannabis.

Since then I've had a few run ins with hydrocodone, oxycodone and poppy pods. Poppy pods had me by the balls for 2-3 months, but now i'm on suboxone again. I still dabble when exciting/reasonably priced chemicals come along.
I should mention that I moved away from my old city which was a dope fiends paradise, I had like 5-6 spots that sold decent-awesome dope 24/7. SO after 11+ months clean (and the past 1-2 years) I don't know the dope spots anymore. Which is probably a huge factor that I haven't done heroin in such a long time....and all my old dope fiend friends are either clean or im no longer in contact with them.

So for me, some serious clean time with rehab etc, plus a location change and the insane price/unavailability of pills in my new area has provided me the opportunity to use "responsibly." But only through a combination of factors...as i think of it, if i could cop dope now as easily as i used to be able to, i'd most probably be using at least once a week (and we all know where that leads).:p

But IMO i think it's completely possible to get clean without NA, AA, a sponsor, rehab or anything. It's just a conscience lifestyle change, not too much different than becoming a vegan or exercising or anything of the sort. IMO "relapse is a part of recovery" is bs too. It's really just a matter of determination and making healthy and smart decisions.

i relapsed many times trying to get clean from my polydrug habit consisting of benzos, opiates (IV Heroin), crack, and IV coke.

Today, I am about a month sober. =-)

It is the doctors fucking job to give out pills lol...

No telling someone not to buy suboxone to quit is like telling someone not to but heroin to quit. Addicts can't taper alone. Which is what the doctor is for.

You're extremely uneducated about this subject. I'd hate to see what else you're wrong about.

Please don't try to correct people when you don't know shit.

I just want everyone to know, being on suboxone for a year does not mean you were clean for a year. It means you were addicted to suboxone for a year. Sorry to break it to you. It's also extremely unethical for a sub doctor to keep you on suboxone for a year or more. That's just so they can make money by getting you hooked on suboxone.

I don't give a fuck what drug you use or how much of it you use, no one needs to detox or taper for that long.

The 21 day methadone program is an example of the right amount of time.. That works, being on methadone for 3 years, is not clean. Granted, it has saved many peoples lives and totally changed people for the better. It isn't clean, or sober at all.

Just because you're not using a needle anymore doesn't make you clean. I've taken methadone, it fucks you up. If you say otherwise you're lying, all you have to do is double your dose.

That said, this was not meant as an attack to the people on MMT. BECAUSE, you guys are doing the best thing. MMT is for people that can't stop, they need opiates to function. I'm positive you're better off on MMT than you were on junk. So you should be proud of yourselves, but again. You're not clean. You're on MMT cause you can't or don't want to get clean.

There's nothing wrong with that at all, but there is something wrong with saying you've been clean for X years but you're on sub or 'Done.
That's a lie.

Thank you so much for that great post man. Especially the huge font. It really helped get your point across. So what if people take bupe or methadone? It keeps them off other opiates and allows them to function. They can say they've been clean for 5 years if they want to and you are in no position to say that they aren't clean.

You call someone uneducated and how you can't wait to see what else they are wrong about. Who made you an expert on addiction? Your posts went from being about hey can my friend IM/SC hydromorphone and bragging about how you have been to rehab with the doctors from Intervention to preaching about addiction. You may think you are God's gift to the earth but you really are not.

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but how can you sit there and insult others about being on an opioid maintenance program? Use normal font like everyone else does.

I have been using heroin for 6 years now. And i replased counteless time's.
Sometime's i made it for a week or a month. I'm using now agian for about a year now everyday. And was 1,5 years clean before that.
From heroin i have to say because i was on bupe. I also tryed it with methadone but that only made using easer for my so that didn't work at all. I took it for 2 years though.

Al i'm trying to say is don't think you made it when you got 1+ year clean. The step to relapse gets bigger but when you start dreaming about it agian and your thinking about how sweet a shot of heroin would be. You should hold on to al you got because relapse is close. Atleast it was too my. And i was pretty dame sure i was not going to relapse, alwent very well for my. I found a girl and a job, bought a house with that girl and was not seeing any of my drug using friends.
Really there was no reasen to relapse.

Heroin it's my wife and it's my life.

Hey all... thanks for all the advice now i can share my experience with relapse.

It is impossible at this point for me to use responsibly. I don't know why all i know is that it is IMPOSSIBLE.

After relapsing one day I told myself i'll eat the subs the next day. I woke up and before getting out of bed and taking a sub ... i called my dealer before i got out of bed. Well i've been on a three day binge. Almost wanna say it's been worth it because the bags are so fuckig fire even though expensive.

I will use again today with a friend and with the same help of that friend tomorrow suboxone is goign to be guarenteed in my mouth the second i wake up and from them on.

Those first few days on bupe with correct dosage were amazing with no thoughts of dope. Those start again tomorrow. Good day to you all. :) I wasn't sober long but sober life leads to better things and this is FACT not opinion.

Remember the high is temprorary .... so fucking temporary. Enough is never enough ....

Lol

They let everyone and there mom on this site don't they?

I don't care how many posts you have or how long you've been here so don't expect to get and respect from me for that. All it means is that you waste more time posting meaningless shit like the post you just made, I don't. If I did, I'd have triple your post count lol

A.) An expert on addiction? Nope. Never did I once claim to be that. In regards to your ignorant statement about me insulting people that are on opioid maintenance programs, I'll just assume you can't read. In fact I applauded the people on MMT, because MMT is for people that can not or will not get off opiates.

I'm pretty sure I made that one clear. The real question is who the fuck are you to critique my posts?

I apologize if I don't know much about IMing pills, as I don't do it. Which is why I also don't claim to. I didn't know this site was going to be full of know nothing jealous kids that chastise people for asking questions. My friend wanted to IM an OXYCONTIN. By the way, so I'll assume again that you can't read to well. So I asked if it was a good idea, it wasn't so I talked him out of it. Now I'm the wiser. But you and the few other's that continue to bring up other people's past questions in an attempt to insult other people, just further proves your incompetence to give advice to even post on this site like a mature adult at all.

I honestly feel bad for you and whoever else agrees with you.

If any statement I made above was incorrect, I wouldn't have made it.

When people take drugs like Methadone or Suboxone as opioid maintenance, it means they are still taking opioids. In fact they're taking stronger/longer acting opioids than they were before.

I could give a fuck less what you think because yes everyone is entitled to their own opinions. That's not fucking clean, nor will it ever be.

I'm not an "expert" on addiction, but I am an addict and I do know what I'm talking about.

Maintenance is maintenance, you might as well be using small amounts of heroin regularly to not get sick except for the fact that both methadone and suboxone are longer acting and better suited for the job.

If you want to be a liar, yes then you can say you've been clean for X amount of years on methadone. Like I said, there's not one damn thing wrong with that. The only problem I have is that it's not fair to the people who worked their asses off getting and staying clean to cheapen the term. Sorry about it.

Also in regards to the "bragging about being in rehab with the counselors from celebrity rehab and Dr. Drew".
When the fuck did I brag] about that? I mentioned it once in a post while listing the treatments I've tried. Stating only that it doesn't matter where you go or who you are treated by, it doesn't always work.

Wiggi, along with whoever else gets all worked up about that statement are extremely insecure and obviously jealous for reasons that I can't seem to figure out. It is sad tho, and funny. You're pathetic man and I think you have issues that you need to take care of before giving people life advice on the internet.

I'm in every position to say who is clean and not clean. If they want to be in denial about that then so be it. You on the other hand are in no position to talk shit to me about what I do and do not know.

A fact is a fact. An opinion is just that. Everybody has one, it doesn't mean yours or mine for that matter is right.

I do my job on this site, just because I don't sugar coat anything and don't always respect peoples feelings is unimportant.

I help people, get messages everyday thanking me for it or agreeing with what I said. It seems like you either like me or hate me but I could give a fuck either way.

I say what no one else has the balls to say. There's thousands of people out there that struggle every day to stay clean. It's a huge accomplishment for them and they take great pride in it.

How exactly would you feel if you worked your ass off getting clean off heroin and someone comes to a meeting and says "Hi my name is Joe, I'm an addict and I've been clean for 3 years today, walks up and takes a chip and says, hey sorry I gotta get to the methadone clinic to get my dose".

That's not fucking clean.

The people that are really clean, earned the right to say they're clean. That's how I feel and enough people agree with me so I won't lose any sleep over someone like you that doesn't.

As far as my font size, I'll type in whatever size font I'd like. You really have a problem telling people what to do. Maybe you should take care of your fucked up self before pointing the finger around.

People like you are a joke to me. How are you gunna sit there and tell me not to insult people(which I didn't, I actually made sure not to but you're "special" so..) and then proceed to insult me?

I made my point, all you did was make yourself look really "cool".

I only post about things that I know about, I don't post replies to meth questions, or anything else I don't know about. There's a reason.

Here's a thought. How about instead of running your mouth and talking shit, you try to answer the OP's question?

O wait, I already did. Once again, but I'm such an idiot right?
This just keeps happening and I'm pretty tired of it. Get a clue, or grow up.

Don't even get me started on KStoner. At least you have good posts behind you, cause I'm not saying you don't know what you're talking about... Like you did with me but I just looked through KStoners old posts and laughed.

Peace

Did you relapse your first time trying to quit.. whether on sub maintence or just CT... how long did you stay clean for before this happened?

Do you think it's possible to use heroin responsibly after being a heroin addict?

Ive relapsed many times. Ive stayed clean for months at a time, but remebering the high always sucks me back in.

I believe its possible to use responsibly as I have been for the last 5 months! but its very hard, and i stick to a schedual for my usage...no more than 80mg of opana over a 4-5 day period, and i also take 1-2 weeks break inbetween a 80mg "binge". but if i go the whole 5 days I do experience very mild WD, but it completely goes away within 4 days.

I 'relapsed' every time I tried to stop using... until the last time. I probably tried 40 times before that, 5-10 of them being serious attempts, with suboxone or whatever.
This was several times over the course of a year or so. Then one day it clicked.
Sometimes I could last a day, sometimes a week, but never long.

Me too. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th.... time but Iv actuly had alot of clean time the last few months.

Evryone relaspes i don't think anyone is able to quit the 1st time the decide to stop, And if they are the percentage of people who stopped the 1st time is extremly low.

i sure have and still do continue to fuck up when i try to "quit". i'm comfortable enough with my current usage pattern for the occasional slip when i know i've chosen to get high when i shouldn't have.

once school starts in the beginning of march it shall be a different story.

:|unfortunately this story didn't change. i only used more...

here's to giving another crack at short term sobriety.

Not me I've haven't ever relapsed. Ok maybe a couple hundred times. My using is getting fewer and farther between and I want to just stop its just well I don't think I have to explain anything, you all know the drill
