Benzos Did something quite dumb and careless...

Christ, that's an awful shame, and it was clearly a suicidal dose. Cry for help, maybe? Perhaps she was lucid for a while, 'cause clonazepam really can take a while to kick in. However, once it did, I very much doubt she was able to get out of her chair - perhaps, and perhaps hopefully, she wasn't even conscious when the combination hit her and stopped her breathing.

The stigma is important and it's carried over to new people when they're impressionable young children by people who visit schools and hand out literature detailing the life of a drug user as something horrific and awful, as if we are (or were) human vermin; in actual fact there're more functional addicts than there've ever been before, what with pharmaceutical companies making sure their drugs are sold to people for any number of reasons, with no regard for the consequences...

I hope it was painless.

But there must have been signs: there should have been someone watching out for this girl. :-/

That is very sad, as someone that came close to Benzo/Opiate OD many times I am so sorry to hear this. Very, very sad. I hate to say "thank you" for the update, but this just goes to show what can happen when you don't plan ahead.

If anything good comes of this thread maybe it can serve as a warning and prevent at least one person from doing this in the future. :(

RIP anterrabae

benzos should be regulated a little better. i think too many docs hand this stuff out. over-prescribed opioids, too. i've known more people that have died from this combo than i would like to. in fact, i went to a funeral less than a month ago because of the super killer combo of xanax + methadone.

yes, people are still going to get these and opiates, but i still think these two substances are well over prescribed.

perhaps every bottle should have bold words 'mixing with xanax, klonopin, valium, or ativan may cause DEATH' and vice versa for the benzo bottle.

shrug. i just see this happen so much it's fucking out of hand. teenagers taking word of mouth from others "yeah man mix these and its great!"... dead.

there has to be a way to at least SLOW this down. if the person is suicidal then that's different. it's these accidental OD's...

I'm sorry to bring bad news... but it has come to my attention that anterrabae died of an accidental overdose on the day this thread was created. There's nothing I hate worse than to see a person harm or kill themselves because they lack the knowledge to use a substance safely. I am very sad that she passed this way because as you can see by her original post, she knew she had made a terrible mistake. No one can know why a person would act against the knowledge they have. She said she was depressed and impulsive. She paid the ultimate price.

I don't see how you can say this was accidental. Anyone who takes 60 clonazepam pills (and thats assuming they were the 2 mg, it's quite possible she had to eat 120 or even 240 pills) and combines it with a high dose of opioid, knows they are putting their life in danger. I mean seriously, when do you ever take 60 pills of anything? This was clearly self-harm/suicide.

Not that that makes it any less sad. I am not one of those heartless individuals who believes people who attempt suicide don't deserve sympathy. On the contrary, I feel more compassion towards those who are driven to do things like this because of how awful and lost they must feel. I just wanted to point out the absurdity in calling it accidental. Accidental. 8)

RIP...very sad indeed. In the endit doesn't really matter if it was accidental or not, the most important thing is the world lost another young life to drugs. Makes me hate drug that much more.

I just read this thread for the first time, really really sad news. I only lost a good friend 2 days ago to a drug overdose, it's really sad to see such great people unnecessarily die :( R.I.P Anterrabae

if you are still alive please go to the ER ASAP. the dose that you took is lethal, you will definitely be getting some charcoal to absorb the posions you put in your body (at that dose). Please go to ER FAST!!!!!!!

Look around you...

i am very sorry mates. I did not read the whole message, and had no idea that she indeed passed. This is terrible news and the worst part is that she realized what she had done and sounded like she actually wanted help. Prayers are with her

How can you say that it doesn't matter whether or not it was accidental and then blame drugs for her death in the same sentence? If it was suicide, then she could have used any number of means, bleach, hanging, jumping off a cliff, a gun, drowning, etc. Not that I am saying its bad to hate drugs (although if that's the case, why are you here?) but I really don't think drugs are to blame here. She took at minimum, more than 60 pills. It's not as if she didn't know what she was doing.

Please guys this should be no thread for arguing :( This is a truly awful, and extremely sad situation that should never have happened.. Let us not debate over whether what she did was accidental or not, it is not our place to do so. I hope that at the very least this acts as a sign to someone, anyone, that may be thinking about taking away their life by overdosing, that it can and does happen. Don't do this to yourself. Don't do this to your loved ones. You'll leave a hole that can never be healed.. :(

RIP Babe... <3

If it was suicidal it seems odd that he would ask us for help afterwards. It looks like he did it almost for the hell of it, and only afterwards realised how severe the situation might have been.

Many people reach out after trying to commit suicide or after they did what was needed then change their mind. That for discussion elsewhere. RIP. Makes me realize how lucky I was in finding help before the combo got me.

What makes this even more tragic is that the first response to this thread came only after 7 minutes (not long at all in forum time) and it was still too late. Is there a bluelight IRC channel where one can go and chat and maybe others with life-threatening questions like this can be answered with more haste?

Or perhaps even an emergency response forum on the site that is monitored and is only to be posted in for serious, potentially life-threatening queries?

To be honest, if the situation's that urgent you'd be better off phoning for an ambulance and letting the paramedics decide.

That's part of the problem though. She couldn't decide whether to call the paramedics or not. Her first response was to post here.

I don't know who she is personally, and have never talked to her so I can't say much. But when I stumbled across this thread I happened to have been listening to 'Wish you were here' by Pink Floyd. She may have left this world, but she left something to learn from for the rest of us - even if some of us didn't know her at all.
