On friday I got 20 tablets of 30mg/500mg codeine/apap pills and I have usually taken 10 tablets normally without CWE (thats 5000mg paracetamol) and been just fine.
Friday I took 5000mg apap and got a horrible stomach pain that moved on to liver pain. Then 12 hours later in saturday morning I took 1000mg of apap more because of my head pain. Later on saturday I took 3000mg more and got horrible stomach pain and liver pain..I know it was stupid and should have done CWE but I was in horrible pain from my migraine and needed something to help.
Stopped taking anymore after I got scared because I had taken in 24 hours 9000mg of apap and had horrible pains in my stomach and liver.
Now im feeling fine and dont have any symptoms anymore (and no weird colors like yellow anywhere or anything odd happening)
Did I just dodge a bullet with that apap/codeine use? Its monday now so any liver/stomach failure should have shown up already right?

This is way past dangerous and is crossing in to the realm of being possibly fatal, as 10g in a day has been reported to cause complete liver failure, which usually takes 2-3 days to kill you.

I am not sure about jaundice and other objective symptoms of APAP overdose, but I would get your ass to an ER so they can neutralize whatever APAP is still being processed by your liver. The spacing of the doses probably helped you, but I would seriously keep an eye on this.

In an APAP overdose, the initial stomach discomfort usually clears in 24 hours, and often makes one mistakenly believe he/she is fine at this point. The problem is, the symptoms of liver failure appear later, maybe 3 days after the overdose. Many other liver toxins like carbon tet or Amanita virosa have a similar course of effects.

9 grams is probably not enough to kill you, AFAIK, but don't take this kind of stupid amounts of APAP again.

As others have said, the symptoms of liver damage occur >24 hours after taking the overdose, and by the time they arrive you have usually past the window for effective treatment and the damage is irreversible. It can progress to death of your liver tissue and complete liver and multi-organ failure, which can obviously be fatal. You should get yourself seen by a doctor immediately to have liver function tests done rather than assuming you are okay or waiting til you get symptoms.. the sooner the better as time is of the essence when managing an APAP overdose.

9000mg is on the cusp of when doctors start to really worry. Anything over 4000mg is an overdose; over 10,000mg and you are definitely at high risk of doing some damage. It depends on your weight and liver function though. You definitely need to get checked out ASAP after 9000mg in 24 hrs. Good luck <3

Go to the doctor. Liver failure isn't fun, and by the time you actually notice it from the apap it might be too late.

Once you get past the point of no return you need a liver transplant. I guess if you think yourself lucky enough to get a new liver...

I've taken some large doses of ace before (4/5g maybe more) several times before, and each time it was fucking bad and I was worried I was gonna OD. Thankfully everyones body is different in how much ace they can handle, but that is also why they have LOWERED THE RECOMMENDED DAILY LIMIT to 3g. Some people cant even handle 4 g. I'd say anything +/- 1g ace isn't too bad (3-5g) although its not good...but 9g+? That is a big problem.

Good luck brotha. I think you'll be fine as long as a doctor checks you out.

And if you're worried about what they will say about you abusing codeine just tell them that you took too much tylenol and forgot about the limit. Although I think this should be a wake up call about you abusing opiates...I mean when you cant even take limited amounts of ace so as not to die...I'd say your problem has crossed into the danger zone.

I used to take ungodly high doses of paracetamol, but it was only because I did not know of the risks. Once I learned what it was about, I cut out all Tylenol PM and started to CWE all of my pills. This problem was basically hidden from the public and forced on junkies. There are preparations of drugs that are only schedule 5 when mixed with apap, which is bullshit. Apap was shoved in everything to such an extent that people without drug problems were going into ALF by just using a cocktail of OTCs.

Upon reread, you lose my vote of confidence because you knew the risks, and you knew how to CWE but you chose not to. ALF is basically the worst way to die. Your liver will probably regenerate if you leave it completely alone for awhile, that means no APAP and no booze. I definitely wouldn't want to die for a little codeine fix, and you only dodged the bullet if you actually learned from your mistake, if not, all you did was slow the bullet down.

i would have to agree that you need to see a doctor right away i took 20000mg at once and lived but i was young and stupid and just plain lucky but even that which happened 8 years ago will more than likely have huge adverse affects on me in the future

Sorry for not posting back in a while but I have been a bit messed up last week. I am still alive and well, just have been having a lot of liver and stomach pain but no discolorations (havent turned yellow or had anything odd happen)

Stomach pain and liver pain are 95% gone and from what I have read I'm going to be just fine. I know that taking all that APAP was bad but I have done it in past and been fine (well I have taken 5000mg in 24 hours and been just fine) and CWE was not a possibility because of the company I have around me. Also the reason I took that many codeine/APAP pills were that I was in heavy opiate withdrawal with a horrible migraine so I was desperate and did not think clearly because of all the pain that I was going through and the only painkillers I had were those pills. Pain can make you do things that you would not in your right mind do.

I am now steering clear of everything that can stress my body and liver so havent been drinking or taking other drugs except theanine and loperamide.

It is now been 10 days since I took that APAP so from what I have read and heard I think I am going to be just fine right?

"The mortality rate from paracetamol overdose increases two days after the ingestion, reaches a maximum on day four, and then gradually decreases.
Patients that do not die are expected to fully recover and have a normal life expectancy and quality of life.[69]
The third phase follows at 3 to 5 days, and is marked by complications of massive hepatic necrosis leading to fulminant hepatic failure with complications of coagulation defects, hypoglycemia, kidney failure, hepatic encephalopathy, cerebral edema, sepsis, multiple organ failure, and death.[11] If the third phase is survived, the hepatic necrosis runs its course, and liver and kidney function typically return to normal in a few weeks." etc. From wikipedia.

Thanks for all the support and sorry if I scared anyone

I'm just gonna be straight with ya buddy: this could quite possibly fuck you realllllllllllllll bad down the road.

Shoulda got checked out.

Really hope you have learned something. I mean I HATE quoting myself, but:

I think this should be a wake up call about you abusing opiates...I mean when you cant even take limited amounts of ace so as not to die...I'd say your problem has crossed into the danger zone.

Posts like this baffle me.. you only get one body and your doing something as reckless as that? I would shoot 9 g's of crack before I took that mcuh apap holy crap.
