Did I hit the vein? (first time IV)

i thought if the blood goes into the needle by itself it ment you hit an artery and you should try to find another spot
 
yeah i feel u hit the vein..plus usually as soon as u take the needle out of ur arm and blood comes out immediately u ha dopen contact with the vein...as every1 says once u register and see blood, start pushing the liquid in!! be careful not to move the needle too much tho while ur doing it cuz there is a possibility that u might of slightly pulled out of the vein or went thru it
 
A good tactic to register is as soon as you pierce the skin, but before you hit the vein, pull the plunger back. This creates a vacuum in the syringe. That way, as soon as you hit the vein, the blood will literally fly into the syringe. This is great for a few reasons. Its foolproof, you always know when you are in. Its super easy. You don't have to worry about slipping out by registering the 'traditional' way. More reasons I can't think of. Maybe someone else wants to go into more detail. This is a great tip for injecting. Try it out sometime.

not necessarily, you will know if you hit an artery - it feels pretty much similar as hitting a nerve. Also the blood from a vein might flow back to the syringe, but not with such a pressure that it presses the plunger back, like blood from the artery may do.

Careful though not to go in too fast. Otherwise you may go through the vein (in and out again) with the syringe registering in between. You then think you're in while in fact you *were* in (but you're out again). Then you inject with a vengence underneath the vein! That's why some people advise against this method.

Regarding arteries, isn't it a rule that they're situated much deeper than the veins, at least in common injecting sites like the hand and arms? Surely, if you have veins with good to average visibility and don't go for dangerous sites, hitting an artery should never happen. I'm only asking here. I never went for a vein I couldn't see.
 
Hmm like the other expierenced dope fiends here I think it sounds like you got a hit, cause it would burn and most likely blow out a bump on your arm where you missed. Your junk was prolly weak or you didn't use enougth. try using as much as you'd normally get fucked up from snorting.

You said your kinda overweight tho, I notice if I miss in my legs which are fattyier than my arms, they don't really blow out noticeably and it barely burn if I miss, so you might not notice the blowing out if your arms have a lot of fatty tissue.

So I guess my advice is to get more/better dope and try again. Although I feel kinda guilty saying that cause if I could go back and do it over I'd either a. never have shot up or b. stopped after a couple times or a few weeks.
Cause in the past 2+ years I haven't gone more than 2-3 days without smack except for a 3 week stint in inpatient rehab.. sucks to have to have a substance to feel normal. Do what u feel tho..

As I said before......I doubt I'll be doing this again. It was just a once off, curiosity thing.

Dope is really hard for me to come by....and it usually is this low purity when I find it. So, short of finding some nice raw dope or any nifty ampules of a pharmaceutical my IV career ends there :)

Also, about arteries. When I was first digging around for a vein, I actually went too deep and hit an artery. It was really deep. It hurt. And the pressure it caused was instant and actually pushed the plunger up by itself. So as far as I can tell, it's very obvious when you hit artery.

Anyway...... the spot where I injected is pretty normal looking now. No tenderness at the site....... only a bit of a bruise around the area remains.
 
Where i live heroine is some pretty huge shit like no one's ever seen it, heard stories about it...is it really deathly or is it like every other thing here that's put on a pedestal. (MDMA is considered huge here). Not trying to take away from your thread either i hope all your questions were answered.
 
I think you missed it to be honest or slipped out , missing isn't very painfull unless your shooting concentrated coke.

Always register , also when a little blood comes in and you slip , pull it out and push a little solution through the tip to keep the needle from clogging

I don't think you hit an artery in 3 years of injecting i only hit one 1'ce and that was becuase i was in a very bad state of mind , hitting an artery warrants going to the hospital your limb will swell and it doesn't always stop bleeding
 
I like u BB, ur usually always on point but with all due respect how the hell can you say he missed it yo? all the shit he said clearly points to him hittin the vein and just having shitty dope or not knowin wat to expect from the high.

Yes i guess he could have gotten shitty dope as well , but because he said he injected half the amount that gets him high when snorted and didn't feel a rush.

The spot where I injected looks OK. The skin around the hole is ever so slightly pinkish in an oblong circle. But not raised up at all. Does not hurt.....unless I press directly on the hole.

all i have to say is this.

YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU HIT THE VIEN AFTER THE PLUNGER IS ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THE ELECTRIC ORGASMIC BLISSFUL NARCTOIC TAKES AHOLD OF YOUR BODY AND MASSAGES EVERY CELL IN YOUR BODY UNTIL THEY EACH ORGASM 10,000 TIMES EACH A SECOND. And that's not even near how good it feels.
 
Hehe.....well......turns out I missed.

A big detail I forgot to mention here was the bruise pattern's relation to the injection site. It was not on center. As in, the bruise sort of radiates outward from the 'hole'......with the injection site at the top end of the bruise.

A med school buddy of mine took one look at my bruised arm, laughed at me and noted I missed that shot.

Suppose I should have just asked him sooner :)

Thanks again for all the tips though.....should I ever try IV again, I have more than enough info to do it proper now.
 
if you have a med school buddy would it be really bad to ask him to put it in for you?
