Did I hit an artery?

Yesterday when I was taking a shot of crystal, I did my usual- tourniquet, poke, pull a bit, register blood, release tourniquet, and inject. I got about 20/30 units into my arm when it felt like the inside of my veins went from a little tingle to as if they were on fire, it was excruciating and I know have an idea of a "10" when asked "how bad does it hurt on a scale of 1 to 10?". But it only hurt for less than five seconds then there was no pain, no swelling, and basically no indication other than little needle marks where I had taken my shot. It didn't feel like I missed, that feels like a stinging sensation local to your injection site. This burning sensation started at the injection site and moved rapidly to my finger tips where it dissipated quickly. Does anyone have any ideas of what may have happened?

Based on your description of the burn shooting down to your fingers sounds like you did hit an artery. When you registered, was the flashback much quicker than normal, and was it a much lighter color and frothy looking?

if you draw back and the blood is light red, its an arterie, if its dark red almost purole, its a vein. you also might have hit a nerve
