Heroin Did I accidentally inject into my muscle?

I've injected some h, and because this syringe is really tough, I'm not able to pull back, so when I think I'm in the vein, I push and if I don't see a swelling/bubble or feel pain, I assume I'm in and keep going.

So for this shot, I felt the effects maybe 10 seconds after. This stuff is weak, really cut I guess, because I had more than half a teaspoon full, and I've only used a few times over the past couple weeks.

Anyway, this was a little further down my forearm than usual, and now it seems the muscle is a bit swollen and tough. There isn't pain except for minor soreness when I touch it. Did I inject into my muscle? Is there anything I should do? I've been putting ice packs on it.

If you can't register leave a tiny amount of air inside the needle tip allowing blood to flow into it automatically when hitting a vein. This way you don't have to register, I almost never pull back the plunger...

Easiest way to know if you missed your shot is the lack of rush, if there was no rush it was a miss.

Reused till the point of breaking when trying to pierce the skin I guess, been there before. Or just reused till the point where the plunger is almost impossible to pull back.

Man, that is really, really bad IV technique. If you can afford heroin, you can afford new syringes.

If you disagree with me, think about how much heroin you could be wasting. Also, having abscesses lanced is really no fun at all, and cellulitis is really painful.

If you insist on re-using syringes to the point that they're dull and difficult to use, get some medical-grade silicon-based lubricant for the plunger, it'll make things much easier.

first of all, definitely find some new syringes.

i always recommend pulling back, that's what i did and it worked very well. i would bet you hit a muscle because of the soreness, when you hit a vein there should be no pain during or after the shot.

where-ever you hit, i'd use heat instead of ice.. its going to break up whatevers in there and help getcha back to normal.

ps. buy new needles. if youre too scared to do it at the parmacy or needle excange you can always get them online from a medical supply store in bulk for super cheap no questions asked.

IMHO Please see blood register before u push. Please get some new jigs, for your safety. Sometimes a strong antibiotic has helped me like augmentin 875 mg it's for skin infection and took IBU or anti-inflammatory rx.

You should defiantly get some new syringes. I cant stress how important it is to have them. If your going to shoot up dope, then at least do it right. Of course I'm not going to lie and say ive never reused needles to the point where it was hard to pull back the plunger, if this happens get some medical lubricant, such as neosporin or something, it will help alot. Anything you need to do to be able to register. Otherwise your just wasting your dope, and getting a possible infection as well.

Sorry for the misunderstanding everyone, but these are new syringes. Not the best word I guess, but by "tough" I only meant it's too hard to pull back the plunger with one hand. Well I did manage to the first couples of times with this batch of needles, that it requires so much effort that I'm afraid I'm moving too much and tearing the vein.

I was hoping someone could tell me if I hit the muscle based on my description of the slight swelling etc? Well, I took one 875 mg antibiotic pill last night; should I take more just in case? The swelling has not increased, nor has any pain. My hand is slightly stiff. I haven't felt any rush from this stuff because it's so weak. But with the shot yesterday I did feel something after maybe 10 seconds, so I thought that maybe I got some in the vein and some in the muscle.

How can you do that safely without the chance of putting air into your vein?

It takes a lot of air in your shots to cause problems.

Its called preregister a shot. The blood will flow into the vacuum of the needle to equalize the pressure, then you push the plunger down and the blood and drugs go back into your vein. That's the theory anyway.

You will definitely want to apply ice to something like this..it reduces the swelling and inflammation and heat could actually make things worse. Ibuprofen is also a good way to go because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Not sure why you would take an antibiotic for hitting a muscle, antibiotics are for infections and just one or 2 doses can do more harm than good as opposed to taking a full round (7 to 14 days worth).
