Diazepam, Codeine, Alcohol - 1st time, exp., exp. - Ummm...

T 00:00 OK So it was .. wednesday evening I believe. I'd just acquired 50x5mg diazepam (never had benzos before), am a codeine addict, and decided if i took a few mg of valium with my 300mg codeine id get higher. A drink for good times, of course.

Fast forward . . 7am or so in the morning:
I wake up.. . can't remember going to bed. . mustve passed out/gone to sleep . cant remember much of last night either. Get up and prepare for a usual thursday's activities.

Then I find out it's friday.

Not only that, but according to others I was around (including parents) I had been functioning somewhat normally all through thursday, despite me not recalling thursday having happened at all.

I check, all the valium is gone (250mg)

I think I'm going to keep my distance from benzos for now. This distresses me heaps what happened 8(

I hope this still counts as a trip report. . even though the report is reporting the fact that I don't know what happened!

^ Whoa - I've had a few "mini" versions of your experience, so I can definitely relate in a way and know how Valium can wipe the mind clean of recent memory, so to speak. Luckily you didn't get hurt or anything like that.

Wow... that's extreme!

I once had a similar experience. Which is why I don't use benzos anymore (plus I find them not at all recreational in the slightest. They just make me tired and dopey and dead without any euphoria whatsoever). In this experience, I took about 1mg of Xanax, 10mg of diazepam, and one dose of another, perhaps nitrazepam? So not that much, even. I took it right before I left in my car to go to the airport which is nearby. I was going for a week to Dallas to train for my job, and I dislike planes and was feeling anxious.

Anyway, I remember getting in my car, but not getting to the airport. Next thing I'm aware of is exiting my hotel room in Dallas on the way to the office to train. At first I thought nothing of it, but soon I realized I had no memory of anything about the trip across the country, with a connection flight.

It turns out I had done the following while blacked out from benzos: I drove to the airport, got my eTicket, checked in, moved to a different gate because my flight had moved gates, took the flight, caught the connection flight after the first flight, got to Dallas, rented a car, drove to the hotel after somehow finding out how to get there (20-25 minutes away in rush hour traffic), gotten to the hotel, checked in, put my stuff away in my room, took a shower, and started walking out the door.

Scary, scary stuff. Good thing my autopilot seems to be fine... 8( 8(

Its scarey isnt it. . I think it must be a long-term memory recording issue.. . if the short term is operating, you would be able to function correctly, but not remember it the next day unless you had the long term active!

Oh and interestingly from the couple hours I do remember. . yeah. . benzos gave me no buzz whatsoever!

I think it's fascinating, somehow I enjoy reading benzo wipe out stories more so than any other kind of trip report since they're so incredible.

I have read a few on bl that were memorable (ha!).

There's nothing as disturbing as having to call some friend to ask him just what did you do yesterday, since you just woke up in bed with no recollection of the previous 24 hours.

Autopilot works good for me, too.

A very close friend of mine took approximately 60 mg of Bromazepam. He has no recollection of taking over 6mg (1 pill). Apparently, as reported by his grandmother who lived with him, He took a shower, went to the gym (this guy has NEVER been to a gym in his life), lifted some weights, went to the uni, followed class (taking notes, even), went back home, changed clothes went out with friends and got drunk and high. He "came to" 48 hours later and had to ask everyone around him how and what happened in the last 2 days!

ahh the first benzo induced blackout. cant say i want that to happen ever again. few years ago i took 70mgs of valium with 4 shots of grey goose and was blacked out for like a week. it was more of a brownout tho, as i was semi coherent and functioning. valium has such a long half life, im sure it happens to a lot fo ppl that take massive doses.

i agree. i dont think you are nearly as blacked out as the term (especially with alcohol) implies. just because you won't remember a lot of what happened does not mean that you were reckless, irresponsible, etc. during the experience.

For example, I had a similar experience that Xorkoth did. I completely forgot about going to the hotel after landing, but then i thought about the night, started remembering events, and then realized that it wasnt a big deal at all that i didnt remember, (besides the not remembering part). I was able to figure out where i was going perfectl fine, if not better due to the lack of anxiety. Of course, my experiences are not as extreme as many benzo experiences can be, and you can easily be reckless and irresponsible. In general reacreational usage, however, i dont think "blacking out" on benzos is as bad as the term implies.
