Diazepam 5mg

Ok, new to this site, not sure if I'm in the right place to post this, but need help. Have a dentist app tomorrow. They prescribed me diazepam 5mg. Gave me 2, one tonight, one an hour before my app. Never taken this before. Took it about an hour ago, but still wiggin out about tomorrow. Am deathly afraid of the dentist. Will it kick in? Will I be good for my app tomorrow? As for a tolerance, I don't have one. I take anything and I feel it within 10 mins...

If you're having a major procedure done the valium will help you be calm through it. But you said you took one tonight. Did it help at all? Sometimes it takes some time to kick in so you might want to take it at least 90 minutes beforehand. Like OTW said too, they can give you nitrous gas as well.

Took one tonight. It helped me to stop freaking out a little bit, but still jittery. They are giving me nitrous too. With my fear, I'm just not completely trustworthy of the dentist. Never taken diazepam before, figured it would at least knock me out...

IV midazolam and fentanyl, plus nitrous. Ultimate tooth pulling experience :D doubt you could get that cocktail with getting multiple teeth pulled out though.

That is a tiny dose, you are not going to feel any sort of high from it. It will/may relax you a little. But with no actual high produced I doubt!

Valium is one of the weaker benzos in terms of knocking down anxiety quickly and intensely. It is better for people that are either on benzos daily long term or are tapering off high/ or daily doses of benzos. You would of been better off with one 0.5mg of xanax instead of the valium.

I'm sure you had your dentist appointment by now so it doesn't matter, but the only time i feel pretty relaxed and noticed a slight "high" from valium with no tolerance was at 20mg and even then i wouldn't call it a high, just a calming feeling. 5mg of valium isn't enough for someone to really feel much anxiety relief quickly or at all.

Sure it is. I'm prescribed 90 5mg tabs a month, and JUST today I took only 5mg sublingually and felt anxiety relief and much more calm within 10 minutes.

5mg is a small dose... its equal to about .25mg of xanax or klonopin/.5mg of ativan(disregarding half-life). thats why you arent feeling much, i think most dr's and such dont understand that. they usually give too small of doses out when it comes to diazepam. im pretty sure that the tabs only go up to 10mg for it, that doesnt help.

diazepam has a long half life and they may have gave it to you because of that. they hope that it will carry over and help you stay calm for the rest of the time including afterwards.

the stuff works for me how its supposed to, but only if i take enough of it... myself im on 1mg of klonopin now, so much better than the 5mg valium i was on. id need 4 of those to egual one of my klonopin.

The first time i got prescribed a one time 30 day supply of the 10mg valiums i was disappointed because they were the mylan brand and were green, since i was reading and hearing about people always talking about the typical blue 10mg ones. However as i stated above i couldn't feel anything from 10mg, but at 20mg mildy euphoric and slight bit relaxed in the back i did that at the same dose every 4 days till i ran out.

However last summer when i was in Egypt (my parents are from their) I had my multiple experiences with benzos since a prescription for anything was able to be re-used at any different pharmacy and they had like 10 small little pharmacies per every mile. So obviously i had a ton of them however when i did get the "blue" valiums i took 60mg and was disappointed in the anxiety relief aspect and the feeling in general. Now i think back to it that i liked the green ones better or it could be just in my head since it shouldn't make a difference since they were both 10mg of the same drug just different brands.
