i have posted a thread similar to this a couple months back so please forgive me but i didnt really get the exact answer that i was looking for and ended up getting my hands on some valium so i didnt have to worry about withdrawal for long. i'll just keep it short and sweet. i have taken benzos for close to a year now, the last few months i've only been taking 5 to 10mg of diazapam most days and i am being forced to quit cold turkey. treatment isnt an option and i have been to the ER for withdrawal before and they just treat me like a piece of shit drug addict and send me home without help. my question is, roughly how likely am i to die with the withdrawal and how severe do you think they will get considering i dont take a lot compared to a lot of benzo addicts?
also any and all advice on how to get through it more comfortably is very welcome. also please no withdrawal horror stories. i have heard enough of them so believe me i know how dangerous withdrawal can be

A year isn't all that long compared to some other people I've heard of taking like up to 7 sticks of zany for 5 years..but it's still a long time and going to be pretty uncomfortable, unfortunately. You should go to the emergency room and they will give you drugs to relieve the horrible feelings you are likely to experience. Best luck.

A year is a long time to have taken it, but its hard to say how likely you are to get serious WD symptoms if you have already tapered down to that amount. I'd say keep going with what you have, but dont be afraid to use the ER if it gets too overwhelming.

If you can get your hands on some pregabalin you can stave off possible seizures while your body adjusts to the absence of benzos. I dont know the dosage threshold for diazepam, I was dependent on alprazolam, but even just a 1-2 mg daily habit was rougher than I anticipated upon WD. Being unable to sleep and having vivid nightmares when I did sleep was the worst part for me. Something like Ambien might help out a lot.

Ok, since you know WD from benzos can be deadly, you know what to do if things get too crazy....go to the ER in that WD state and they HAVE to help you if it is very severe where seizures and death may result.

With the amount of pills you have, this is my advice and is my advice only. I am not a medical professional. Wait until you are withdrawing, then when it becomes full blown, take the least amount you can to get better. Keep on repeating this until you have no medication left....then if the WD still gets unbearable after all that----straight to ER.

I kicked a 30-50mg/day habit along with a kratom habit, gabapentin, and alcohol all cold turkey in jail. I had full on delusions and thought my family was dead, thought the Outlaws I used to be affiliated with were going to kill me, etc etc. It was a crazy experience but I didn't have seizures. Just strange jerking motions of my limbs periodically. I think you'll be okay if you just low dose those valium and klonopin for as long as you can... are you still drinking?

It's going to suck no matter what. And everyone is very different in regard to seizures.

It isn't that much compared to many other benzo users. But still, detoxing from any benzo can be life threatening. Try to wean yourself off day by day. If you can't, go back to the hospital ER. They HAVE to help you with at least a blood pressure med, hopefully a low dose of Ativan for a couple days. And I know exactly what you mean as far as the hospital ER treating you like a piece of shit drug addict. This hospital located near me is the same exact way in that they treat you like dirt. They won't even treat you with Ativan around here unless you're literally dying. It's ridiculous. I remember one time going into the ER because of my facial fracture pain and while being evaluated the nurse asked me about my recorded drug history. I stated that it shouldn't have anything to do with my treatment or pain factor because I was honestly in need of pain relief, and to my surprise, this other nurse crept up behind me and shouted "Labeled haha", as in I was a labeled drug user. I should have sued their asses right then and there. I feel for you buddy, you will get threw it.

OP, the dosages that you have been taking are not extreme. 10mg being roughly equivalent to .5mg of Alprazolam, you're taking less than the average benzo scripted American takes. Even so, the benzodiazepine withdrawal is tough shit.

I'm not a doctor, but the likelihood of dying or having a seizure is low, unless you already have a tendency toward seizures. It will probably just be an unpleasant experience, as benzo withdrawal always is. If you do a little bit of research you'll find that most people dread benzo withdrawal worse than anything.

thanks for the encouragement everyone. i will try to space out what i have for as long as i can and only take one when i am absolutely feeling terrible and when they are gone ill just suffer through it. i always considered myself a tough guy as do most people who know me but benzo addiction really showed me im not tough at all

^hhmm. I don't think its very safe to quit like this. You are looking at brain damage through "kindling"

What you are supposed to do is cut the pills into smaller pieces. If you don't have the access funds for a store bought pill cutter, score them with a knife. This is how a doctor will tell you to do it.

Do not use alcohol to help. It is cross-tolerant with benzos on GABA receptors, so during times that alcohol is used, your receptors will not reset. This means you will not get better but just stay in limbo.

What u want is definitely magensium.

went to the doc today, full blown panic attack, completely out of my mind. vomitting and shit as well. she refused to give me a script to taper and told me to just quit cold turkey. i asked he knows how risky that is, she either didnt know or didnt care but she told me to go to the ER so i did. they gave me an ativan and a script for 3 more (gee thanks) and had a crisis counsoler ask me if i am suicidal to which i said yes because his point i am. no fucks were given, he told me to see a therapist and they sent me home. i have tried everything and no one will help me. and the icing on the cake is i tested positive for meth and i have fucking never smoked meth! it had to have been laced in my weed without me knowing. so now they will never take me serious again and always treat me as a junky

I dont want to break the rules but the distinction is the point.

based on what you're talking about, if you were to get generic valerian root, it is cheap enough to be a good idea.

At this point you can ignore the directions or internet testimonies, and empty about half the bottle's worth of capsules a time into water to drink, or make tea if it will be difficult to get down.

It has a very long half-life.

i dont have a single dollar to my name until later next month so i'll have to wait on the valerian root, but what about melatonin? i have some of that. do you think it would help?

Well my responses on bluelight are a synergy of helping people and a percieved audience, kind of like facebook, so I guess I don't really see a reason for you asking me this.

Maybe someone else can telll you about melatonin, doesnt seem connected to your question, but I hope it works out for you bro. :D

No, melatonin won't help. Since you are also drinking why don't you tell the doctors at the ER that you are kicking that too. You will need a bit in your system to confirm your story, and then they can't turn you away and since they use basically the same meds to get you off of those 2 substances you should be covered.

I am only giving you this advice since you are in a dangerous situation, others shouldn't try this to get into detox for any old medication they wish to kick.
