I'm due to see my doctor on thursday, i've been taking 240mgs of Dihydrocodeine, i used to get a nice feeling along with it nuking my pain, but this ain't working or the pain is getting worse, (i have 2 wedge compressions and 2 compressions in vertebrae) i know you lads and lasses on here know your drugs so can anyone advise me on what to ask my doctor for? pain first, a nice feeling would be ahem nice, but not fussed..

It could be that its not giving you adequate pain relief because you have just become tolerant to the 240mg dose. most likely your doctor will increase this or put you on something else, Oramorph, Oxy whatever (but a low dose, these are much stronger).
Personally I would slyly mention Oxycodone, by saying a friend said it worked for them, but I feel the need to warn you as a long term opiate addict, it is great in the beginning but soon you could find yourself in a really bad situation, especially since you need it for chronic pain (i.e running out of your RX early constantly and not only being in WD, but lots of pain also.)

Do what you feel, but a lot of people have gone the same route as you and it usually ends with getting heroin etc off the street for when you run out.

The best solution is to fix the underlying condition.

Opioids are well known to lose efficacy over time as apinkillers and euphoriants. If you want to deal with the pain a better decision is adding e.g. ibuprofen to your existing opioid dose.

Its funny you mention that, i do know a lad on Oxycodone we and talked about this, i'm going to try and mention that less pills (I'm also on Clonazepam, Venlafaxine, Quitiapine, Calcichew) to take is easier on acid reflux or something. This a pain thing mainly, its no good having a constant spinal injury and using these to get high all the time, it used to be effective for my back, but i always thought Codeine Phosphate gets you the higher of the 2 (it does for me personally) I sadly have already been down the Heroin road, and it ended with my girlfriend resuscitating me, jabbed by the paramedics and nearly banned from getting anything addictive off my doctor again, i'm quite strong willed, i managed to beat alcohol, anyone who's been that low down on drink knows its a small percentage who come back, i amazingly was one of them.. Cheers for the tip i will mention Oxycodone..

Promethazine Hydrochloride (Sominex) is good with DHC, don't go over 30mg though!

ibuprofen doesnt potentiate as well as extra strength tylenol in my humble opinion, works nicely with pregab though

I think sekio did not mean "potentiation" in the way Bluelight is used to (making the recreational effects of opioids stronger) but just adding it to kill the pain more effective.

OP: If you have been down the H-Road I would try to stay away from the higher potent opioids and maybe find a middle-ground regarding your medication in case of what works for your pain.
Good luck!

H road never did it more than 5 times, it wasn't my cup of tea, i don't like strong anything, atm i like some Kratom, but i gotta get a better painkiller, i wonder if i can pick up slow release DCH and some phosphate for faster relief.
