I had heard rumors that taking intoxicating levels of dextromethorphan with ssri/ssnri can be very dangerous i was wondering if this is true

It depends-if you are talking about a stronger ssri such as Xanax, than you have a strong chance of inflicting seratonin syndrome, but if it was something li,e lexipro, you probably won't inflict any damage. But no matter what avoid ssri's and dxm.

@straightadruggie:
Xanax is not a ssri..it's a benzodiazepine (alprazolam).

@op:
I'd avoid it. People have combined ssri's with dxm with no issues but don't do it.
You would be running serious risk of serotonin syndrome.

Yes, there is a very high risk of serotonin syndrome with mixing DXM, SSRI's, psychedelics, high dose tramadol, and MDMA. Mixing any of the two can cause serious serotonin syndrome. Even if you don't die of hyperthermia or a seizure, you mght have an extremely uncomfortable trip, full of overheating, sometimes violent agitation, confusion, blacking out, and serious irritability.

AVOID THE COMBINATION AT ALL COSTS!!!
