In episode 2 of the new Dexter resurrected series he finds himself pursuing a ilkiller called the "dark passenger'' who uses a hoody with some kind of infrared technology so his face appears not but a ball of light on the cabs security camera.

Does such technology exist. Closest I could find were "Reflectacles" IR anti facial recognition sunglasses --- I more just wanna make my face a ball of light; facial recog is not the concern I'd just prefer my whereabouts to be as private as possible. (Part of why I don't carry a GPS phone)

**Edit** I missed the television and films forum -- you wanna send it there I certainly understand!

I just got Paramount+ to watch all of the new Dexter seasons. Just finished new blood, halfway through original sin now. They're actually pretty good. Idk how he survived getting shot in the heart, but, ya know, can't really have Dexter without him so I guess the show runners still got some juice to squeeze out of this one

Yeaaa I don't think Micheal C. Hall has much of a career without Dexter -- Based on how "Gamer" with Gerard Butler did at least. It is just the product that makes your face appear as a blur of light that has my fascination! Though the show is good still

I haven't seen that tech for real but I also haven't done a web search for it.
It's easily plausible because small, even "tiny" highly flexible light strips and "tubes" or "rope lights" exist. No reason why those same physical packages couldn't use IR light and they would look just like that "camera blind hoodie".

I have doe a bit of research and there are only two things that come up even close. "Reflectacles" glasses which will stop facial recognition measurements but noone is like after me I don't need that (To be honest). Or "anti paparazzi reflective "Scarf" ---- If the scarf works screw it Ill be a scarf weirdo when I need to pull this trick ---- kinda a giveaway though. Could it have been the guy with the very strange scarf?? Yea probably

Really I would appreciate if someone tech savvy took a look at that and gave me an honest evaluation. (Now I don't know if it should be in TV and current events anymore but I can always open another one asking about the product if noone is interested here)

^It looks like it only applies to night vision though. Kinda a waste when I'd like to hide my face from any and all cameras.

Same sentiment exactly. If the camera has no flash no effect --- no ball of light. Which is kind of misleading as why would there need to be a flash in a lighted cab?
