Dexedrine Tabs in Water - White Layer?

Alright, I haven't been able to find the answer to this question anywhere, so I thought I'd come here. My chemistry knowledge is weak, but it is my understanding that water can not be used effectively to extract dextroamphetamine from 5mg dexedrine IR tablets.

However, I witnessed someone attempt this with their prescription, and the results confused me. When two 5mg tabs were dissolved in a small amount of hot water (from the tap, so not *that* hot), the water turned orange (from the dye obviously) and a small white layer appeared at the bottom of the container. With further stirring, the white layer seemed to dissolve into the water as well, although it took a significantly longer amount of time.

I am well aware that this white layer is probably not the active ingredient, but does anyone know what it is? Thanks.

Im not familiar with dex tabs. I would think that it might just have been some sort of filler.

Its not the best idea to dissolve the tabs in hot water, because the hotter the water the eisier it is for all the fillers and whatnot to dissolve along with the dex.

Yeah, that's what I would have thought.. I wasn't the mastermind behind this experiment, though.. haha. I was just curious, as it was clear that something was clearly not water-soluable in those tabs. I guess a cold-water extraction could be the first of a few steps in the extraction process.

I've performed a water extraction with dexedrine 5mg IR tablets before, and have never experienced any sort of white intermediate layer forming. What brand tablets are you using? My guess would be that it's some sort of filler/binder which is less water soluable than the dexedrine itself, but i'm honestly not sure.

If you can get ahold of them, i find that the time release capsules extract with significantly less work. The tablets have so many binders that you end up losing quite a bit of the solution trying to filter it all out.

Is this even the correct method?
Just putting them in hot water.

Or is it suppose to be cold water?

I'm down to about 200 dexedrine 5mg IR tablets as of today......which won't last me to long.
So, before i run down to 20 and start having to conserve to them to last for refill.

I'll try it out, and see if i get same effects... or what happens.
I have never tryed to extract the filler, but for amount i consume.. it would be safer anyways.

I thought there was much more to it.
but, if thats all.. i'll check it out while i still don't care if i wasted a bunch playing around. heh

broke one in half, while sitting here... looks like the BARR tablets at least. it has little white streaks in it. rest is orange. probably come out to be a tiny spec. as if it was just something to bind the chemical pill.
Can't picture it being the d-amphetamine.

-=edit again=-
Ok, i read past posts on this subject. to remember...basically..
there wasn't one i searched for i hadn't already read.
That i already kinda knew the answer to this question.
Which solves the mystery why i couldn't think of why i never tryed it when i first read your post ;p

Consumed far to many, and head not here right now. Had to juggle my memory.

It all comes down too...as put simply above. It isn't worth it. and takes alot of work to keep filtering out that binder.
i imagine if i take 150...its gonna be forever to filter.
and when i am done..and look at the visually small amount of powder....there would be no way for me to dose it...or use it over time.

I can't even keep track of when and how many pills i take each hour as it is.

This thread might help you out here
Well, at least its what popped me back into deja vu and remembering. which i thank you for ;p

That tiny amount of white, maybe the drug afterall. For me personally, i know the outcome of a 150+ extraction..or any of them. The drug would disapear, and i would spend 6 hours in tweaked confusion thinking of every way i could have lost it. except for actually using it!

The most effective, and best way to take them....was orally as that is what they were created for. Was always my opinion, and only option worth seeking.

Just FYI, the tabs in question are GSK 5mg tabs. I also have access to 10mg GSK dexedrine spansules of my own.

Regardless, my own personal use of amphetamines tapered down to my prescribed dose a long time ago... The amount of side effects that I get from recreational doses has increased so much over the years that I just don't find myself tempted by that any more. This was really more of a curiosity than actually seeking an effective extraction method.

Regardless, dextroamphetamine is water soluable as far as I know, so I'm fairly certain that the white layer is not the drug itself... besides, I think there was way too much of it for it to possibly be.

My understanding is that in order to effectively extract dextroamphetamine from these tabs, you need to do a CWE first to remove some of the binders, and then use acetone (because the amps aren't soluable in it) to remove the rest of them... or something like that.

I too agree that it is probably just best to eat the tabs as they were intended.

Yeah, then it all makes sense then.

mind makes things complicated sometimes.

Yours is probably white filler, thought pics no their website was a white pill itself.

Yeah... the pills themselves are orange colored like adderall tabs are, but the dye dissolves into the water rapidly.. seemingly before anything else, so the actual color of the tab doesn't have much impact on whatever this white powder is.
