Alright, I haven't been able to find the answer to this question anywhere, so I thought I'd come here. My chemistry knowledge is weak, but it is my understanding that water can not be used effectively to extract dextroamphetamine from 5mg dexedrine IR tablets.
However, I witnessed someone attempt this with their prescription, and the results confused me. When two 5mg tabs were dissolved in a small amount of hot water (from the tap, so not *that* hot), the water turned orange (from the dye obviously) and a small white layer appeared at the bottom of the container. With further stirring, the white layer seemed to dissolve into the water as well, although it took a significantly longer amount of time.
I am well aware that this white layer is probably not the active ingredient, but does anyone know what it is? Thanks.
