Dexedrine and Xanax taken at the same time?

Say for example, Dexedrine 40 mg and Xanax 2 mg, taken at the same time.

Upper plus downer. Would they cancel each other out? Therefore, it's a waste?

Side effects?

some people use xanax to take some negative stim side effects away, but definitely not 2mg. i would stick with 0.5 -1mg if youre really having problems. honestly though, i dont ever do stims without having benzos for afterward or else i'll totally freak out, so i suggest you do the same unless you know how youre gonna react. better safe than sorry

It's not a waste, they won't cancel each other out, but they will negative some of each others' side effects. The Xanax will most likely eliminate any anxiety the Dexedrine is causing, and the Dexedrine will reduce the sedation the Xanax causes.

Many doctors prescribe combinations similar to this (an amphetamine and a benzodiazepine) for ADD/anxiety.

^^^ What Neighborhood Threat said is true, many doctors do prescribe a stimulant for ADHD and also a Benzo for an Anziety disorder, mine does. However, I find that combining the stimulant takes away from getting its full effects which I persoanlly enjoy. Also the full effects of the Benzo is not felt when combined with the stimulant, so I save most of my prescribed daily doses of Benzos for after the Dexedrine wears off,and I feel more of the Benzos effects,and it helps me to get to sleep.
2mg of Xanax is a low dose for me, but I have been on benzos for 10 years more or less, so it takes higher doses for me, and with 60mg of Dexedrine, I am assuming they are tablets and not timed release, is IMO a high enough dose of Dexedrine to cancel out most all the effects of the Xanax, so if you are taking these meds for recreational use, then use the Dexedrine ,and save the Xanax for later in the day or night to ease the "comedown" from the Dexedrine, if you are prescribed the meds like that, then take them together or not, it's up to you..
