Detoxing with the Waismann Method?

IForgett, should we make this another thread....i'd like to hear other people chime in, but i think they'll read the original post and lose interest in reading all three pages.

The tramadol is to keep away the opiate w/d's. Look up tramadol or ultram, there is a ton of discussion about it here also. It is an opiod, I think. I know it was marketed as a non_narcotic pain killer, but I do believe that it is at least a partial opiod agonist. Anyway, it keeps away the w/d's. They don't give you any other opiates/o[piods, just stuff like valium, clonodine, sleeping pills, etc. The tramadol works pretty well to keep the w/d's away, not 100%, but it does it's job.
Alright. I guess I'll end this thread with one last question and that is would you go through the Coleman Institute again if you ever feel like detoxing?

Thanks a lot for answering my questions and being patient with me :) I really appreciate it if I haven't said so already :)

wow. I wouldn't have that surgery in simple fear of relapsing. That relapse would be a $15,000 dollar relapse, literally. Even though you're not physcially withdrawing doesn't mean you're psyche won't start talking to you, telling you how much you wan't more opiates.... psyche kills.

Even if the procedure were totally safe it would NOT be worth it.

it sounds dangerous as hell. also, what do you learn from it? that if you have the $, you can get hooked on junk and then go to treatment and be ok in a few days.

try quitting cold turkey. thats what real addicts do. really bad hardcore WD cold turkey has got to be the most cathartic thing ever. its intense.

You can have the "Rapid Opiate Detoxification under Anaesthesia (RODA)" procedure done in Canada for a fraction of the cost. There are two locations that do in -- Western Canada Detox Centre located in Vancouver (~2hr drive north of Seattle), and Canada Detox Centre located in Toronto.

The procedure costs $5,300 cdn, and requires only the weekend to do. During the detox procedure, while you are unconscious, they also implant a Naltrexone pellet under your skin that slowly bio-degrades while releasing the drug over a 3 month period. The price of the pellet is included in the procedure cost.

I didn't have the RODA procedure done (choosing to detox on my own), but am now getting Naltrexone (oral pills) as an outpatient. You definately have to WANT to be opiate free for this method to work, as its on your own initiative that you take your pill every day. It's been working fairly well at curbing opiate cravings... not sure if this is due to a pharmacological effect, or simply because I know I can't get high even if I tried.

after i kicked heroin in a jail cell i've really had no serious motivation to use ever again. 23 hours a day in a cell with nothing to do but think about all the stupid shit that I did to get my ass behind bars.

There isn't any easy way to detox from opiates. But IME suboxone and methadone are pretty comfy cozy detoxes compared to cold turkey by a long long shot.

^most def. the one time i stayed clean the longest was when i did it cold turkey. im on subs now so i cant really say shit. im not looking forward to kicking them, but i know it will be easier than what i went thru in the past with an IV dope habit.

Thanks for the good links but I can't go to any Canadian detox centers because they don't work with US citizens. I called up the first one you posted and they said they don't have insurance to work people from the US so I have to find a clinic from the US.

Do you know of any places from the US?

heh, i was surprised to see my posts in here because i have no memory of writing them....talk about an "inconquerable addiction," heh

Wow, I think the best way to detox is a slow taper with the drug in question. People here saying there is no easy way to detox - I understand where they are coming from. They somehow make an analogy between opioid addiction, and law of conservation of energy (physics). In other words, pain is directly proportional to pleasure, so tapering has its own pain (just as much) as cold turkey, bust more diluted and over a longer period of time. I choose not to buy into this. And I don't buy into the Waismann method either. They are both HALF TRUTHS. Let me explain.

Really, you need to develop some discipline, and learn to keep your tolerance down. If you are addicted, the best way is to commit your self (no, REALLY do it!) to a semi-rapid taper. Slow tapers suck - they take forever, and there is real benefit to be gained by experiencing some pain (makes WD go faster, is your body's way of telling you its repairing it-self). You go cold turkey, and when you start feeling bad, wait a few minutes, and take a bit. After a couple days of doing this, you'll get used to this mildly irritating nag every so often, and within a week or so, the nag will be gone (but you'll be tempted to use again). Which is fine! Just try not to build up the tolerance next time. tolerance is no good for your wallet, and in fact, it is no good for your HIGH! Look at it this way, the goal is to be able to really enjoy some great relaxing highs. That can only happen with lower tolerance (otherwise your just taking to get more normal than high).

Start over as many times as you need to. Therre is nothing wrong with trying again and again. But really, a semi rapid WD with drug of choice is the best of both worlds. You absolutely must experience some pain, or it will not work. but you don't ned to go through hell. This is the wisdom I have found after 40 + years.

BTW: oxcarbamazepine is really amazing if any need a quick WD.
