Detoxing with the Waismann Method?

Hello,

I have been addicted to heroin for a year now and smoke about a gram a day. During the year I've detoxed once with suboxone which wasn't that rough but it only lasted about a month then I relapsed. I have recently tried detoxing again with suboxone but I just ended up getting real sick and relapsing. I tried it two times and got too sick both times.

I was looking for alternative methods of detoxing and came across another new way called The Waismann Method where they put you to sleep with anesthesia for 1-2 hours and remove the opiates from your brain receptors with an antagonist drug. I don't remember what the name of that drug was but thats what they told me over the phone. When you wake out of it you stay in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for two more days then they let you go but you are not supposed to experience any withdrawal symptons or anything during the whole process. Maybe some diaherra for heroin addicts but thats about it.

The cost for the treatment is pretty jaw dropping though, $15,800 is what they told me over the phone. Anyways I was wondering if anyone here knows anyone personally who went through it has any success or unsuccessful stories. $15,800 is an insane amount of money but not feeling any pain or withdrawal is worth gold to me and being up and back running in 4 days makes it worth it.

Anyways please let me know if you guys have any comments or provide me with some feedback.

Thanks,
- Jake

I don't get it. Why do they need to put you under anaesthesia, just for administering an opiate antagonist?

Just ask your doctor for a narcan shot or some naltrexone pills. They will keep your opiate cravings away.

You can also try methadone detox, but I don't reccomend it.

Methinks you can skip the "almost."

I have heard about similar therapies: hell, Jacqueline Susann's Valley of the Dolls talked about a "sleep cure" which involved detoxing while knocked out on barbs for a week at a time. While they might help you turn a week of hellish withdrawals into two days in ICU, I'm guessing they do nothing for post-addiction withdrawal syndrome, depression, & c. In fact, I suspect doing something like this might make it even worse. I'm not a medical professional, so I'll gladly take corrections from somebody who is. But this smells to me like a quack treatment.

The reason why they put you under anethesia is so that you don't experience any of the opiate withdrawals they are removing them from your receptors. The whole entire point of this treatment is so that the patient feels no pain from withdrawals.

Its funny you mention naltrexone... After your treatment they give you naltrexone pills for a year. I believe they are to stop you from craving opiates and block any opiates if you take them. Am I correct?

Also what's the narcan shot? Do you experience withdrawals from the narcan shot? Let me know thanks.

Yeah it does which is why I'm trying to find out as much information as I can about it before actually considering going through with it. I want to though its just the price which has stopped me form making that big leap so far.

Why do you think it will make it worst and what other post withdrawal symptoms do you know of? I want to bring this all up to them and see what I can get out of them and if they plan on helping you through any post withdrawal symptoms.

Iv heard about it before, and with very mixed reactions.the reason that they need to make you unconcisious is because in theroy you would be in to much pain to bare being awake. But Iv heard people say that when thay finaly did wake that they still felt pretty shitty. I dont think any body would wake up and fee 100%, unless your DOC was codine or darvocet or something.

This is also called ultra rapid detox...it is a waste of time and dangerous. They put your body under extreme amounts of stress while in a drug induced "coma". It does absolutely nothing for post acute withdrawal syndrome which occurs after the 3-30 days mark. You would be far better off doing a suboxone detox or if need be a methadone detox. It is a lot cheaper and the discomfort from either of those will be less than any "medically supervised ultra quick detox". It's a crock of shit to scam people out of 15k dollars. I've heard nothing but bad things about it. DO NOT DO IT!!!

Most of the time once you are done with the 2 day detox you are on your own. Some may write a few scripts for you for some sleeping pills or clonodine, but I doubt they'll even do that much for you. I've heard that people go through these programs time and time again and they are always terrible. These things are basically a cash cow for greedy unethical doctors.

Do not bother. If it was cheap, it would be worth a shot. However, it is a very expensive way to tackle a varying problem. If you are looking for a 'quick fix' detox, look into Ibogaine treatment. Either way you will have to deal with PAWS and other shit after you are 'clean', but at least with ibogaine you will learn something about yourself and not waste 15k.

Agreed.

Even if it was cheap, I wouldn't do it.

PAW's would still be there and you'll still have a tolerance once you wake up. OST, or cold turkey, is a much better option.

What is Ibogaine? I went to ibogaine.net and read about it and all they said was that its from a plant or tree in west africa thats helps you detox of addicting substances but they weren't very detailed as to how it helps or what their treatment plan is all about. Can you explain to me more about ibogaine? Thanks.

It's a hallucinogen that's supposed to get rid of withdrawal and your cravings/addiction. I'm not sure if anyone really knows how it's supposed to work.

Some that have had it claim it works, others claim it doesn't. It's not legal in the US, but there are clinics that deal with it in Mexico, among other countries.

theres a documentary on youtube about this heroin addict.. he uses ibogaine and it shows him going through the process.. go check it out.. search for detox or die.. there are 5 parts to it..

they actually followed a kid around on one of those MTV true life episodes who was going to have this done, he was heavily addicted to oxycontin and his mom put the money up to go to the hospital, it showed him while he was under almost looked like he was havein a seizure. after it was done he woke up an said he felt like crap and looked completly out of it, i think he made it a month befor he relapsed, 15 grand well worth it. to the op, you got sick when you took the suboxone because you didnt wait long enough, try em again and wait more then 24 hours after your last dose you should be good.

The "easiest" way to detox, that I have found, is to do a quick suboxone detox (like taper down to nothing in 14 days or less). There will be some discomfort, but there really is no "quick fix" for heroin detox, as much as I wish there was one. It is a good idea to find some type of support/therapy to help with staying clean.

I wish you the best of luck, if you put everything into it, and work real hard at it, you can acomplish it. Just don't expect it to be extremely easy.

it seems to me like buying 15k worth of heroin and then slowly tapering off it would work much better. if you can't control yourself, pay someone to hold onto the heroin for you and only give you a certain amount per day.

of course i'm not really suggesting you do this, you should be able to get off heroin without spending 15k. i'm just saying if i was going to spend that much money, i'd rather just buy heroin than do this quick detox thing which i have also heard terrible things about.

Ihave done a similar detox. They didn't put me completely out, just sedated the shit out of me. So, technically I was awake, but barely.

They gave me some valium and some tramadol for a few days before the procedure. I felt OK, not great, but the tramadol kept me from getting too sick. The day of, I went in, they gave me an IV and sedated me. Then the doc came in every half hour or so and gave me a tiny, but increasing shot of narcan. After a few hours, I was totally opiate free. I felt kinda shitty that day, but not dope sick, just sedated, groggy, that kind of deal from all the drugs. All in all, it wasn't bad. After the procedure (about a week later) I went back and they gave me Naltrexone, which you either take every day as a pill, once per month as a shot or once every 3 months as an implant. The Naltrexone is supposed to make it so if you do any opiates, the receptor sites are blocked and you can't get high. It doesn't work. Eventually I figured that out and relapsed.

But, the detox works, in that it gets you off of dope. But it is tough because you go from using to not using in like a day or a week. So, you are clean, but then you have to do the follow up stuff to stay clean. The Naltrexone helps, it keeps the cravings away a bit and is supposed to block the drugs, but it didn't for me.

The place I went to is called the Coleman Institute. It was about $4500 at the time, which was about 3 or 4 years ago. I guess the one you are talking about is more espensive due to being totally out and having to stay in ICU, but here, they do it in a day at the doctor's office. They have clinics all over the country I think. PM me if you have any more questions.

Wow!!! That sounds great and definitely much more affordable to me. I'm ok with feeling a bit groggy from all the meds but the thing that makes me not go through with my detox each time is putting up with the actual heroin withdrawals. I do have some questions which I'll ask here because I think it will be great if the information you give can help someone else also but I'll also PM you just incase.

What I want to know is how long was your detox treatment at the hospital? The reason why I ask is because I have a very important job where I work like normal people M-F, 8 hour shifts and it wouldn't exactly look good to my boss to tell him I needed to take a few days off to deal detox from drugs, heroin especially. If the detox is lesser than a handful of days I'm sure I can make something up and get away with it but the most important thing is being back at work ASAP since my life pretty much revolves around me having a job.

Why did you relapse and get back up on dope and what where you doing and how much a day? Of course your not supposed to get high if you do suboxone or naltrexone but I've been through suboxone before and it doesn't matter, if you do enough dope you will get high. For me it took about 2 grams of dope and I was then feeling high anything after that but sick at the same time for doing so much.

Also do you know if the treatment that you did is available in California? I live in LA so I'm close enough to most major cities in CA that I can just drive to. Anyways anymore information you can provide me with on how to find a place that does the treatment you went through I would appreciate it so hopefully I can get on the ball with this and go through with it.

Lastly, throughout the whole process did you feel any withdrawal symptoms from the opiate you were on like cold sweats, the chills, being nautious, throwing up, diaherra, or anything else and which ones?

Thanks so much for your reply I really really appreciate it!
