IForgett, should we make this another thread....i'd like to hear other people chime in, but i think they'll read the original post and lose interest in reading all three pages.
Alright. I guess I'll end this thread with one last question and that is would you go through the Coleman Institute again if you ever feel like detoxing?bulldog8b said:The tramadol is to keep away the opiate w/d's. Look up tramadol or ultram, there is a ton of discussion about it here also. It is an opiod, I think. I know it was marketed as a non_narcotic pain killer, but I do believe that it is at least a partial opiod agonist. Anyway, it keeps away the w/d's. They don't give you any other opiates/o[piods, just stuff like valium, clonodine, sleeping pills, etc. The tramadol works pretty well to keep the w/d's away, not 100%, but it does it's job.
try quitting cold turkey. thats what real addicts do. really bad hardcore WD cold turkey has got to be the most cathartic thing ever. its intense.[/QUOTE said:after i kicked heroin in a jail cell i've really had no serious motivation to use ever again. 23 hours a day in a cell with nothing to do but think about all the stupid shit that I did to get my ass behind bars.
There isn't any easy way to detox from opiates. But IME suboxone and methadone are pretty comfy cozy detoxes compared to cold turkey by a long long shot.
Thanks for the good links but I can't go to any Canadian detox centers because they don't work with US citizens. I called up the first one you posted and they said they don't have insurance to work people from the US so I have to find a clinic from the US.raybeez said:You can have the "Rapid Opiate Detoxification under Anaesthesia (RODA)" procedure done in Canada for a fraction of the cost. There are two locations that do in -- Western Canada Detox Centre located in Vancouver (~2hr drive north of Seattle), and Canada Detox Centre located in Toronto.
The procedure costs $5,300 cdn, and requires only the weekend to do. During the detox procedure, while you are unconscious, they also implant a Naltrexone pellet under your skin that slowly bio-degrades while releasing the drug over a 3 month period. The price of the pellet is included in the procedure cost.
I didn't have the RODA procedure done (choosing to detox on my own), but am now getting Naltrexone (oral pills) as an outpatient. You definately have to WANT to be opiate free for this method to work, as its on your own initiative that you take your pill every day. It's been working fairly well at curbing opiate cravings... not sure if this is due to a pharmacological effect, or simply because I know I can't get high even if I tried.
