Detoxing off "multiple substances" all at once!

Soooo my journey into the unknown started about 3 days ago when I decided to discontinue without weaning from my Effexor (Venlafaxine) and my Suboxone at the same time. I only take the Xanax occasionaly, as they are prescribed for "as needed". Which I replaced all with Kratom. I was nervous as hell as all medications have the potential for withdraw side effects. The first day I felt pretty bad in the morning, but by noon the mailman saved me with a package of Kratom. I had never taken it before, but decided to give it a go because I had heard so many good things about using it for anxiety, depression, and withdraw (everything I needed it for)! I was pleasantly surprised that by about an hour after taking it, I felt all giggly, super motivated, social, and actually hungry (which I had never been before during other withdraw periods). The second day was a little worse, but not nearly as bad as it could have been. The third day was the worst of the three, but again, not unbearable (I believe because of the Kratom).

All the while I still had Suboxone, and some mild painkillers in my purse, that I knew would make it all go away. I was strong, and have not used any opiates as to not prolong my withdraw time. I have however, needed to take a few Xanax to sleep, but avoided them during the day. I also smoke ciggs, way too many a day, I should have just quit those too (but I really didn't want to). I am about to go to sleep so tomorrow will be the fourth day. I am hoping that tomorrow will be a better day, and the next, and the next.

I am just curious of other stories or discussions related to ceasing the use of multiple meds or substances for support or information regarding experiences. Any advice to stop the sweats and chills? Those are the two side effects that are currently present, and I cannot stand, but I suppose sweating is necessary to get the toxins out of my body. Thoughts? Comments? Stories appreciated. If this has already been covered and I posted in the wrong place, please feel free to redirect me as I am new to this whole forum thing. Thanks.

generally i don't like to quit a bunch of drugs at once. But sometimes i get so pissed off with my drug use that i say fuck it and detox from everything so i see both sides.

one thing though, effexor has a nasty withdrawal, hopefully the kratom will hold you but you really shouldn't quit effexor cold turkey, switching over to something like prozac and tapering that is a better idea.

secondly, good work on staying off sub. Kratom will cause a dependence but not nearly (not even close to) that of suboxone. So if you can maintain on kratom then taper off when you are ready (or not) then that's much better than being stuck on sub.

yeah you'll sweat quite a bit, i'm not sure why that happens but i soak the bed sheets every withdrawal.

just be careful with the xanax, as you are right now, it will kick you in the ass if used for more than 2 weeks daily. I'd stick to using it as needed for now. Other than that you sound like you are doing quite well all things considered. If you can stay positive, determined and on the right track then your recovery will be so much easier. I'd personally get rid of the sub/pain killers in your purse tho, they will inevitably end up in your body, unless you have that strong of will power, still i just wouldn't test it when you are detoxing from sub anyway.

to stop chills you can use immodium and clonidine, not sure if clonidine helps with the sweating, i'm not sure there's much you can do about that. The chills suck though and immodium is usually enough to kill them, though kratom should handle them as well once you are on it for a few more days.
