Determining dose of a filled gel cap?

A friend has two filled gelcaps and I was able to measure them very accurately to 171 and 183 mg for her. I don't really want to open them up and pour out the contents just to tare the gel caps, because I know some of the contents will be lost in the process. Based on dimension info available online, I'm pretty confident the gel caps are #4s, but I can't find any info on the mass of the empty caps. Does anybody know where I could find such info so that I can provide accurate dosages? Thanks.

It's likely to vary from brand to brand depending on which chemicals were used to make them. Just dump the crystal out on a small piece of glossy paper like a magazine, weigh that and then pour it back into the capsule.

At most you'll lose few milligrams.. it's really not an issue to be 2% less high lol

FWIW - I've used two different sizes of CLEAR gel caps, usually using a larger one to distinguish which one I've measured out for myself as opposed to mates (since my sweet spot is 200mg, whereas I measure 100mg for mates etc. Just saves me wasting precious seconds filling and weighing out more caps than needed lol)....now while I can't really give you an indication of the size difference between the caps themselves, I can say that visually the larger caps I use for myself are significantly bigger, yet by weight they're only ~10mg more. Small caps I use = 92mg, big caps = 103mg. So really, unless they're ridiculously tiny or obscenely big, you're safe enough to assume they're 100mg (which is likely an overestimate if anything, hence you'll end up consuming LESS MDMA - ergo "safer").

In any case though, you're still best off and safer if you do weigh an empty cap.

Okay, I'll just empty and weigh them appropriately.

A second question: assuming the doses are up around 150mg, is that kinda high for individuals with limited experience with it, ie unknown sensitivity?

100 mg would be a better starting dose, and chances are your caps weigh more than 20-30 mg.

Lower dose the better imo, since even if they're perfectly fine handling say 150mg or so, that's setting their expectation benchmark for future rolls a little high - might lead to disappointment in future when dosage is lower, or worse they might just chase a more intense roll every time (which isn't healthy...I know :P)

Tare the weight with an empty gelcap, remove empty gelcap, put on the gelcap filled with MDMA. The weight of the MDMA will now be displayed on your scale.
