I am in the process of joining the military and I need to see their doctor and I have track marks. I have been applying scar cream every day but it is not getting any better. I need to do something drastic. I have about a month. I have been thinking about burning myself (I cant live without having a super lame tattoo).

Can anybody think of something I can do? Maybe I can get a tattoo that slyly covers it up (but no lame ass cross, or in my case star of david, something coy)

Any advice? Please!

Mederma is supposed to be pretty good for fresher marks. How old are they? Don't forget to use sunscreen too.

They are fairly fresh month or so. But there is also scar tissue. I have been using mederma, another scar cream, and neosporin.

Would ice help?

Mederma really does work-- I wish I had pictures to show you the difference. You just have to use as directed. And, I have some of my tracks covered with tattoos. The army, I am unsure of other branches I am an army brat, has restrictions on tattoos so be careful and look it up before you go for that. Please don't burn yourself! Just take care of them. I have never heard of ice helping? And neosporin shouldnt once it is a fresh scar and not a wound. So sorry, I know its hard but Im glad your clean and being productive. Unfortunately, scars happen... I swear mederma is magic though over time.

Ice will not work.. if anything you would want to apply heat. a foundation make up might work.. I would consult a beautician and see if you can figure out something along those lines before I would try a RUSH like iron approach. Temporary tattoo might also be just the ticket.. if asked tell them your kid or nephew wanted you to have it on.

The purported scar creams don't do much; you'll want two things: Vitamin E oil (5,000-12,000 I.U.) and castor oil.

The vitamin E helps the visible scars, whilst castor oil penetrates deeply and breaks up underlying scar tissue. Grab a square of paper towel and apply vitamin E to it; next, pour some castor oil on it. Apply it face down on the tracks and wrap your arm in plastic wrap. Leave it on for about an hour, half an hour if you've got a heating pad you can apply to it as well.

Hope this helps you!

OP like how bad of track marks you talking about? More along the lines of black holes, or just some fresh scars?

If your scars are really bad and dark, there is not much you can do besides get a tattoo. If they are fresh put neosporin on it. Neosporin is the shit, it will heal them right up.

Good luck

Careful with tattoos as a lot of branches have changed their policies for tattoos. Mines almost faded out and I spoke to a recruiter a month or so ago but I haven't used in over 2 years. Depending on the appearance you could claim injury or something of the sort. I work with animals so I have lots of scars from being bit and scratched so I pass mine off easily.
