How does desoxyn compare to street meth? and if you were to ask your doc or psych for some how would you go about it? Btw am rx'd Dexedrine but it's not as insidious as desoxyn considering the methyl group is the only difference in the two drugs which should make desoxyn more potent

Street methamphetamine is going to be less pure (obviously) than Desoxyn, which is pure methamphetamine, USP. Exact purity of street methamphetamine is going to vary from source to source and from dealer to dealer...so we can't give you a straight answer on that.

Yes, methamphetamine (Desoxyn) is more potent than dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine). Methamphetamine is longer lasting and has more action on serotonin release (making it more euphoric) than dextroamphetamine or racemic amphetamine/mixed amphetamine salts (Adderall).

Desoxyn is considered the last resort for ADD/ADHD treatment and many doctors will not prescribe it because of the stigma associated with methamphetamine. In addition, many pharmacies do not stock Desoxyn for obvious reasons.

My bad I am new and flew thru the whole process of learning the purpose behind this website. But I was just wondering if it sounds outrageous to bring up desoxyn even if nothing else has provided a steady help for my ADHD and if it would raise suspicion and maybe others who have asked there docs about it can give me some feed back thank you

There's nothing wrong with talking to your doctor about it - in fact, if you're interested in a drug, I encourage you to speak to your doctor about it. The reason I threw that disclaimer on my post is because sometimes people just want to get drugs from doctors and don't actually need them. Of course, if you actually need the drugs is something for your doctor to decide. Most reports will tell you that Desoxyn is very effective for ADHD but it comes with all the risks and dangers that methamphetamine use comes with. Is it really worth the risk? After Desoxyn, what will you take for ADHD? It's not a "magic pill" that will not cause tolerance, addiction, withdrawal, etc. In fact, tolerance will more than likely grow faster with methamphetamine than with dexamphetamine and after using methamphetamine for a while that will be the only treatment that will work for you. If you want your ADHD treatment to be effective, you want to use the least powerful drug that is, well, effective. How long have you been using Dexedrine? What dosage are you using per day? Are you taking breaks or using it every day? These are things to think about before just going to your doctor and asking to be prescribed the most powerful drug you can be prescribed for your condition.

Dexedrine is usually enough for most cases of ADD/ADHD - but since everybody is different and everybody reacts to drugs differently - us giving you reports of methamphetamine's effects for ADHD will only help you so much.

Idk I just can't decide between what to ask for dexmethylphenidate or dexmethamphetamine both are dextro isomers of methyl group stimulants so I guess that just comes down to Amphetamine vs piperidine but I've been on the focalin and it's helped the most so far so...

Most overweight girls I knew in the 70's though early 80's always had scripts' for desoxyn.

I'm prescribed Desoxyn (dextromethamphetamine), and it's marginally more potent, if not equipotent to dexedrine from what I've read, but this information is pretty unclear I've read different things from different sources, never a consensus, but it seems to range from equipotent mg for mg to 1.5x stronger by weight than Dextro-amphetamine.

By all intents and purposes I would say it's equipotent to Dexedrine.

@NT, You raised some interesting points that I have not even thought about. I have never required a dose increase in all my years on Desoxyn, it's the only medication that was totally without side effects and didn't force-focus or exacerbate my psychological conditions. I disagree that Desoxyn raises your tolerance any faster than other medications such as Dexedrine or Adderall.

However, I have not attempted to use anything else other than Desoxyn, since there's never been a reason to. I have never tested whether Dexedrine was any less effective now than it was prior to starting Desoxyn, but I just might try it now in the name of research. Honestly, I really doubt that Dexedrine will be any less effective now than it was prior to Desoxyn, but Dexedrine has side effects that Desoxyn doesn't, so for me to test Dexedrine it means psyching up for a day of amphetamine-related-discomfort, something that's not very motivating...

Fun fact, Desoxyn metabolizes partially into Dexedrine.

Here's how I see it. If I'm going to take something everyday to help me focus I want to avoid side effects and if there's a euphoria or motivational boost that's a plus. I do not intend to use my meds recreationally anymore because then I'm always chasing a high and my mind won't ever be satisfied not to mention the ohshit I ran out early again. But I have to agree Dexedrine has to many side effects the worst ones for me were horrible stomach cramps and it made me very introverted and conceal all my thoughts to myself

I know what you mean about the introversion, and Desoxyn was a godsend for me, I had endless side effects with all other medications.

Everyone is different though, I'd say probably 90% of the patients are able to benefit from Dexedrine without enough side effects to warrant Desoxyn.

I like it though, it doesn't make my anxiety bad or give me insomnia. There's no XR version anymore, but it's not needed anyways. They only come in 5mg IR tablets, mine say OV 12 on them, but these IR pills last as long as Dexedrine XR, so the increased duration is great.

Also, another huge benefit over other stimulants, there's little to no "crash". For me Adderall was the worst for crashing, but Dexedrine also had a pronounced crash which Desoxyn does not.

And I still don't understand how the dose works if I'm on 15mg dexedrine xr what might I be on with desoxyn

I agree with everything up you said except for 1 thing: euphoria can be felt with as little as 10mgs in someone who has not used crystal meth (essentially very high doses of desoxyn with cut). When I first took desoxyn, I took 30mgs and was rushing so hard I thought my face was gonna fly off my skull.

...well not that strong, but there was an incredible euphoria there.

The dosing is pretty much the same as with Dexedrine, I would imagine you being put on 15mg Desoxyn, 5mg TID (3 times daily).

What are you prescribed Dexedrine for? The reason I ask is wakefulness, alertness, confidence, sociability, these are all reasons why this medication is abused, not conditions for which it is indicated for prescription.

For example, it's written on the bottle something along the lines of "This medication is not to be used to stay awake" or something like that.

If you're only using 15mg Dexedrine XR daily you don't need to be on Desoxyn.

I know many people who are prescribed 30-40mg Dexedrine a day and their doctors aren't putting them on Desoxyn.

Not to pass judgement OP, but I agree with tricomb's post above. It sounds like you want the recreational effects of amphetamines, not the medical ones.

Again, this is another reason why this is something you need to speak to your doctor about. You're not taking a very high Dexedrine dose at all...so I really see no reason for you to be put on Desoxyn.

I'm rx'd for ADHD and for me generally a substance that has more pronounced effects is less likely to be abused as with weaker drugs like Ritalin I would want to take 2 or 3 to achieve wakefulness alertness ect.

And I see the rec effects as a plus but mainly focus is why I take these types of drugs

And the reason I want to be on desoxyn is bc of the side effects I get with Dexedrine

So if you like, ask your doctor about Desoxyn but unless you have a really trusting doctor-patient relationship I would not go in there with any expectations whatsoever.

I really exhausted all the other options and when it seemed that Dexedrine would be the best they could do, I did more research and learned about Desoxyn, asked my psychiatrist about it, he said he'd never RX'd it before but that he'd try anything since I was having such a hard time getting relief.

Been on it ever since. I don't take it anywhere near daily though.

Yeah I'm an addict though I am not in recovery anymore and do not plan to be. And I might have ADHD but when my psych an I went thru the test I did sway my answers a lil bit so I could get rx'd Stims for sure.

I'm closing this now, I hadn't read your above post, and seeing as there's no way you deserve Desoxyn. Its this type of behavior that makes these medications difficult to obtain for those who really need it.
