Desmanthus illinoensis?

Could one brew the root bark of this plant like you would with Jurema?

From what I read, the plant also contains gramine (highly toxic) similarly to some species of Phalaris grass. I wouldn't do it.

I read about that. What a bummer. I have heard of people smoking some root bark, with mild DMT-like effects. I wonder if the gramine was destroyed by the heat or something. They didn't report any toxic effects.

Maybe separating from gramine is possible. I don't know chemistry. Is gramine only toxic if ingested? Do some research/experiments and report back.
