A Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputy was fired last week when a Sheriff’s Office investigation determined that he had been selling synthetic marijuana online after it was outlawed in Louisiana.

Scott Sigur is alleged to have made at least three sales of the synthetic cannabinoid JWH-018 after it was banned in August 2010 and to have profited to the tune of $50,000 to $80,000.

Sheriff Newell Normand said that the results of the investigation had been forwarded to the district attorney’s office and that criminal charges were pending.

“We’ve been able to determine that there are in fact three sales that occurred in Louisiana after the date that the substance JWH-018 was actually outlawed in Louisiana,” Normand said.

Detectives began investigating Sigur in April 2012 following a tip that the deputy was selling marijuana.

Sigur was fired on Thursday, ending nearly ten months of investigation.

Stories like this make me upset I wasn't more active in trying to sell blends. It would have been awesome to just sell them to headshops dirt cheap and make some money, oh well maybe next time.

I said it before and I'll say it again legalize marijuana and this would happen a lot less often. I wonder if there would still be a synthetic cannabiniod market then. I'd like to think no but there has got to be a group of people who likes the synths better.

Also way to be a good cop.
