Depression from xanax

I have been high all weekend. I have been able to go for 3 months only getting high 1 time a week, but this weekend i fucked up. So it started friday, i took 4mg of xanax and a beer at 2am. I passed out for until 1pm and when i woke up i was still a little fucked up, but i took 5mg of lorzepam. So that lasted until 7pm, i then redosed on xanax with 2mg, and i benadryl (i wanted to pass out). so i passed out until 3 am and when I woke up i drank another 3 beers. So i started feeling normal again at about 4 pm today, then came the hangover. I have felt like shit since and i started to get depressed. I prayed to god and told him i was a piece of shit. I cryed thinking about my mom, and that if she ever died it would be my fault. I have just felt sad today.
So can xanax bring on depression?
oh and i was thinking about taking hydrocodone tonight for a mood lift
 
---> bdd. Tried alprazolam several times and found that in each instance there was some sort of crash. Apparently due to the short half life.
 
I always find after any prolonged period of use of any benzo or opiate i suffer quite severe depression.
 
It is quite a common side effect of most benzos unfortunately. It doesn't normally turn into full on clinical depression, but it can definitley bring about strong depressing feelings the day after using.
 
Yeah look out, alprazolam in particular is bad about this IMO.
 
I used Xanax several times few years back & felt a little depressed the following day after using. I stick with Ativan, it doesnt put me into any depressive state after using.
 
The thing is i have never been depressed on xanax and i take it all the time. Just scared me, thanks for the help
EDIT: oh and to add on to it i found out today that my best friend has cancer :(

Oh wow............thats awful news. Sorry to hear about your friend. Try comforting your friend & spend as much time as you can with them.
 
having been on xanax for a couple years at one point I can say with absolute certainty that it will cause some depression when you stop it if you use it only occasionally. If you were to binge on it for a weekend I'd try and taper down for a day or two because the depression can get very bad and you may not even know that the alprazolam is responsible for it.

as far as I'm concerned xanax is the crack of the benzos, has some nasty little side effects, be careful!

However nothing beats it for anxiety attacks. (the kind that come out of the blue, panic attacks I guess is what I mean)
