Depression and psychedelic drugs?

Hello, over the years i have experimented with many drugs, obviously finding some i like and some i do not. I have however always avoided psychedelic drugs due to the fact that i developed depression at a very young age and have had it on and off ever since. I have been told by many people that if a depressed person was to take psychedelics, they would have a 'bad trip' is this true? I'd love to try a few interesting sounding drugs from the psychedelic type, but have always been worried because of the above. Am i safe?

It could go both ways.. it may help your depression.. it may make it worse.. Know your source, test your drugs, make sure you are in a good mind set and make sure you are in a good environment.. I've had some pretty uncomfortable / horrible trips but they haven't been that bad.. the badness never lasted past the drug. If it starts getting a bit uncomfortable just know that it will end.. (A common thought, I've found, is the feeling or thought you are or are going to turn crazy and be stuck like that.. it never happens)..

If you can get any anti-psychotics or benzodiazepines they might be handy to have around.. last resort kinda thing.. The anti-psychotic will pretty much kill the trip while the benzo would calm you down if you started getting anxious / panicking..

Not very HR but If you do take a psychedelic I'd recommend LSD with LOW dose MDMA..

Do you exercise? Get regular, decent sleep? Eat healthily? They all do wonders for depression.

Thanks for the response, yeah i just don't want to be stuck having a nasty trip the first time i try it, as i think i'd be put off for life. I've tried everything for depression, as my first attempted suicide was at age 9 i've been on many medications and as you stated above a general status of good health and well being does wonders. If i dosed say 500mg of phenibut, could this help ensure an enjoyable trip or is this something to avoid doing?

I would wait until you think you need the phenibut if I were you. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone can be very beneficial for your development as an individual.

You'll be fine taking the phenibut..

Transform: Phenibut takes 3 hours to kick in..

Seriously.. you'll be fine.. I take phenibut myself it goes well with pretty much everything..

Never underestimate the calming effects of something familiar which you believe will calm you down... but yeah, I didn't realise that haha!

I really respect this input and development as an individual is important for me, i was just wondering weather it would help the first time, but you may be right
