DEMEROL Some info needed please

HI There

So I just got back from the dentist and he prescribed me demerol 50mg. In all my years i've only ever had it IV after surgery (and I didn't even feel it becuase I was doing dilaudid at home).

Anyway my question is how strong is it? Best way to tke it? Best ROA

How does it compare to say oxy? or hydro, dilaudid, and of course the almighty OPANA.


Any information is as always appreciated.

First of all, we don't close threads for nonsense reasons. If you have any questions about why your thread(s) were closed, shoot the moderators a PM. The moderating staff takes their jobs very seriously.

Demerol (a.k.a. pethidine, or meperidine) is a synthetic opioid. It's not very potent dosage wise.

Orally, 50mg demerol is equal to 0.75-1.75mg oxycodone, or around the same dosage of hydrocodone.

IV, 50mg demerol is equal to around 4-7mg oxycodone, and around 1mg hydromorphone IV. 50mg demerol IV is equal to approx. 0.75mg oxymorphone IV.

Well sir I greatly thank you for helping me.


Darn I was hoping it was stronger. I may have to tell him to give me something else because I told him I cannot take acetaminophen )tylenol) so percs ans lortabs are out of the question.

Well see when I pick it up from CVS

Well I picked it up. Hard to say how strong it is seeing s I'm already on my opana. I 'll wait till morning then try some.
