Delsym Cough Syrup

As opposed to Robitussin.

Robitussin = 10mg DXM per 5ml teaspoon

Delsym = 30mg DXM per 5ml teaspoon

Now before you pester me, I have used the search function and read a few topics on BL, but none answered the question specifically, and I want to do it the safest way and most effective way possible.

So one night in the past I had taken around 300mg of Robitussin, but went to sleep before it kicked it.

Now I have Delsym, and am thinking about trying it.

Can anyone give me a safe dosage to try for a first trip?

first let me repeat what i've said in response to other dxm questions, any kind of cough syrup is not a safe source of dxm. I suggest you look into extracting dxm from syrup. it will remove the extras safely and give you a cleaner trip as well. so this if you realy want to be safe. the product will be a dxm powder you can mix with some oj, parachute, or just stuff into capsules.

however you decide to consume is up to you, but i suggest about 300-350mg for a first trip. anything lower to me is just a drunken like high.
try to be in a good mood when going into a trip and having some kind of goal or plan of activities is a good way to go. with dxm i suggest a walk to a wooded area or park of some sort. being active feels incredible. and take the ipod as well music is euphoria in itself. just stay positive and dont try to worry about anything, this will set you off into a bad trip fast.
 
^ Well actually I don't know either, since I don't believe it's available in Oz. I was more responding to your statement that any kind of cough syrup isn't safe for consuming DXM.

Anyway, after looking it up it seems as though Delsym is some kind of time-release DXM formulation, which probably isn't the best to use for recreational purposes.
 
agreed, the time release will most likely keep you at a lower plateau but probably for longer period of time. its just the cpm and guafinesin i'm worried about. the extras are just more stress on the body. who needs that anyway =P
 
Thanks for your help guys, and I ended up taking around 400mg.

I'll post a Trip Report when I get back from my friends, as I'm still feeling dazed/drunk...

Nobody, and it's definitely a good idea to avoid DXM containing preparations if they have those two ingredients or other actives in them if you are seeking recreational experiences.

Fortunately, there are a few brands for you DXM-philes with only the magic you seek as the main ingredient. DXM does not bode well with me though so I avoid it completely.
 
One little bottle sucks, you jsut feel slightly different, Delsym is time released so its like one half of total Delsym dose is regular DXM. I would suggest one big bottle of delsym, and some weed you'd be tripping good.
 
im goin to have to say forget delsym and i think i read somewhere the time release mechanism isnt all that good for you to be eating. you should jsut get zicam!

to each his own i suppose =].
that is why i always suggest an extraction. did some research last night and the whole process takes about 30-45 minutes, and is very very basic.

i've noticed that dxm is an "aquired taste" so to speak, kind of like the taste of mushrooms. some people like it, others don't
 
Delsym is extended release, so realize that you will be tripping for longer than with regular DXM preparations.
 
Just to shead a little light on the subject...Delsym contains Dextromethorphan POLISTIREX. And you are all correct its a time release. The only reason ive found to stay away from this type is that it being time released it WILL build up in you system. Bromide does the same thing but from what i uderstand is less common or takes more.
In my experience Delsym gives a much smoother tripp. That said i usually trip on the Death boxes (if you know what i mean). The CPM deffinetly makes it different. Long story short i feel Delsym is like an extract. The tast is not exactly appealing but again its alot better then ALL other syrups ive drank. It also is a bigger amount in a littler solution, more DXM and less to drink. Is it worth the extra $, thats on you.

Four things:

1. This thread is a year and a half old. What's with the sudden mass thread necro trend tonight? Eery.

2. It's polistirex.

3. Here's one more reason to stay away from DXM polistirex: it's a lot harder on your liver than DXM HBr. It's basically DXM coated in an edible plastic. Not the best thing to force your body to process huge amounts of too regularly.

4. If taste is an issue, why use syrups at all? You can get gel caps at any drugstore, which means no taste, no sugar and other unnecessary crap to dump into your body along with the DXM you actually want, and usually a little cheaper than the syrups.

3. Wouldnt my stomachs enzymes and acids break these down??

4. Some people just cant choke down pills anymore.

big bottle (5 oz) of delsym to get a nice body trip. had a 3 oz bottle or feeling ambitious had another big bottle. trip your balls off. bad thing about delsym: be careful might shit your pants
 
lol...thats DXMs vice in general. I tell everyone who tripps, you gotta fart go to tha bathroom...just incase. Funny though a ex-friend of mine diddnt listen! You know what happened.
