Dehydrating Psilocibin Mushrooms

Anyone have a way of drying out shrooms with basic household appliances or anything commonly found around the house?

You'd want to avoid heat, light and oxygen while drying mushrooms, as those degrade the actives.

Best would be pre-drying for a day or two in a dark, dry room. Then put them in an air-tight container with a drying agent / desiccant (e. g. silica gel), it will absorb all moisture. Renew desiccant as needed. When the mushrooms are "cracker dry", you can store them in a cool, dark, dry place for a very long time.

I'm sure BL has a big'n'dandy mushroom storage thread somewhere. Search for it and you'll find lots of information serving your purpose.

Edit: household stuff you say... some people say rice (raw of course) works okay as desiccant. I really recommend silica gel packets though, get some and you'll be good for years. You can even get them with an indicator that changes colour as soon as they are nearly saturated with moisture. Then just put them in an oven at 105 °C until colour changes back to 'ready'. These packets have lots of uses and are extremely convenient for drying and long time storage.

So I could just take the trash bag they're picked in and let them sit tied up for 2 days, throw them in mason jars with an ass-ton of rice, and let them sit another day or two?

I searched "dehydrating shrooms" and didn't find anything promising, but I'll search what you suggested. Thanks for the info.

the way ive done it in the past with cyans was pick em, set them all on papertowels in my kitchen, and air dry with a fan and a window.
i wouldnt leave them in a trashbag wet for 2 days, just doesnt sound like a good idea

Won't be able to set them out in the open...parents are away for about a week for 30th anniversary, but sisters/niece/nephew are still here lol...what's funny is that sis won't know anything about it, but brother-in-law is the one picking them lmfao...he just wants some free beer money and I got someone wanting a zip lmao...

I've always needed a heated fan to dry cubensis - trying to dry them with dessicant they'll go rotten long before they ever dry out.

If it's only liberty caps then you might have a chance without a heated fan.

I sat them in a cardboard box with a fan pointing directly at them on high, (should take about 36 hours), then I put them in jars and stored them in the dark and they are still potent many years later.

Lord no!

They need to be spread out on something and but put somewhere with high airflow. The airflow makes all the difference. When they appear dry you can move them to a sealed container with desiccant. Silica gel is dirt cheap and can't be beaten

I've grown my own Psilocybe Cubensis.

I dried them in the oven for 6hours on the lowest temperature possible (50° Celsius in my case) . Then chopped them up with a knife and put them in alufoil wraps each containing 1gr. I froze these.
Last week I sampled some with friends and everyone enjoyed their 1gr on the comedown of an MDMA experience. I don't think there's potency loss, and if there is, it's negligible.

If they're just golden topped pasture (shit) shrooms, how do you know which strain they are?
