I will soon be ordering 18 pounds of poppy seed of a reputable and highly rated brand (Unwashed according to a number of reviews). I have spent literally hours reading all the teks I could find on poppy seed tea, poppy pod tea, cooked flake opium, putty, etc. and I still have a few questions as to the efficacy of various methods. I'm also curious about evaporating tea with heat. Some say morphine does not breaking down at water boiling temp, while others insist the water must never boil or even simmer, but only steam. I don't know who to believe, though I suppose I will err on the side of safety and not boil.
Would a micron aquarium filter be fine enough to remove most or all of the oils and waxes to yield a clean, smokable end product?
How well does the partial freezing method work?
How about Paraffin wax?
Naphtha?
One person even said that a quick wash with cold water would yield fewer oils in the solution.
It's a real nightmare trying to sort through all this conflicting info. The end goal is as clean a product as possible, and I'd like to be able to smoke it. Which method(s) should I use?
