Debt / Money Problems

Depression is a natural response to feeling helpless, which I can understand that you are in this situation. However, if you keep looking at the situation as though you're trapped and can't make a change, then your financial position will continue to worsen, your depression will continue to worsen, and you'll be even less able to do something about it.

Like a lot of the people in this thread who have given you good, patient advice (and been shut down by you for it), I've been in serious debt, and the only way to get out was by making some really unpleasant temporary changes to my life. Sure life sucked for a while, but now it doesn't. That's just how life goes.

Oh and FYI a lot of the rich people you see around you (not all, but many) worked really, really hard to get the money they have today. They're the people who didn't say "fuck it, life's too hard" and instead kept plugging away at it.

if you have anything left over, the world is your oyster.

Example: So i pay all my bills and buy any necessities i need. Yay i have say 40 bucks left over for the whole month. Wow there is so much you can do with 40 bucks over a 1 month period! The world really is my oyster!

(extreme sarcasm)

Bullshit they just fucked someone else over and got away with it. They cheated. Can you say Enron? United Airlines?

It doesn't sound like you're willing to make any changes to fix the situation you've gotten yourself into. If you aren't willing to work *more* hours at a second job, and you aren't going to consider selling your car (and use the public transportation system or get a cheaper auto) then maybe you should look for a job that pays more.

You yourself said "Out of my own irresponsibility i have gotten myself into 1,200 dollars worth of credit card debt." Stop buying anything that isn't absolutely necessary, get any needed clothing from the goodwill store, and try to fill up on cheap foods like ramen, chicken, fruits and veges. How many times a week are you currently eating out? Do you have cable/ satellite/ a cell phone/ magazine subscriptions? I'm assuming you're paying for internet service; these are all unnecessary luxaries that you can repurchase after you are no longer in debt.

Also, as far as rent goes- I'm sure that if you looked around, you could find something cheaper than $550/month. Have you considered subleasing your place for the remainder of your contract and getting something more affordable?

However you decide to cut costs, you should maybe consider putting a little aside for therapy/ anger management. You're awfully hostile to people offering advice after you asked the damn question.

something like 9 out of 10 small business fail within their first 5 years.

those who end up rich fail over and over until they get it right.

some shitheads in this world are born into wealthy familys.

a lot more build wealth for their family's through extrordinary hard work. its called leaving a legacy.

hang in there, money isn't eveything. find a balance between controlling your finances and living in the now. it isn't easy, but its what must be done in your situation.

but, you paid all your bills and you have 40 bucks to spare.

sounds like a winning plan to me.

Then move out of the studio and share a place. It will be cheaper than living alone.

just curious- what kind of car do you own?

Sure, i see your point. But it seems more like a rip off to me. 40 bucks to spend for a whole month is a fucking joke. Im so upset and depressed right now i just wish i was dead so the cruel joke of my life can be passed on to someone else. Then it would be their problem.

I dont know anybody or have any friends i could move in with. Besides, its kinda hard to move out of a place and into a new one when you owe a ton of money in rent already.

I own a 2002 Ford Focus. And before people start giving me shit for owning a "newer" car, i just spent like 500 dollars to get it fixed about a month ago.

look at it this way:

your situation sucks. no doubt about that.

but you could have a paper cut. and that would suck ass.

my point?: it can always be worse than it is right now. so cheer up, you could have a paper cut.

bah!, I've been at work for 14hrs now, my gf is pissed because I didn't take a break to see her when I said I would, my cat is probably starving because I fed her the last bit of food in the bag this morning, there's no AC, I'm sweaty, tired, and frustrated as hell with life right now.

but, at least I don't have a papercut.

^ I gave myself a paper cut on my nipple this morning. True story! The moral is, get dressed before you start work each morning (I work from home =D)

I'm running out of things to offer star shadow net. You've asked us to help you get out of debt, we've offered a slew of practical options, and you've said no to every single one. There are plenty of ways out of your situation, you just have to be willing to explore them fully rather than giving up at the first hint of an excuse. I'm sorry if hearing this pisses you off, but you're poor and we're not (now), so maybe we know what we're talking about.

It doesn't matter what you just spent on it; you still own a "newer" car. Crappy choice, but newer none-the-less. I have a '97 toyota with 195,000 miles on it, and I make more than 3 times what you do.

Do you realize that people in other countries feed extended families on a fraction of what you make? It doesn't matter how many practical suggestions people here give you; you're too depressed and hopeless to consider any lifestyle changes at this point. If you have medical insurance, I really think you should look into what kind of mental health benefits you've got, and go talk to someone. I'm sorry you're having such a low point right now, but internet sympathy and financial counselling from a drug website really aren't going to get you through it.

OH THE SWEET IRONY!

lmao, I just got a paper cut.

fuck it, I'm going home.

hope you get on track with this ASAP.

Heyyyy, way to ignore all the good advice and pick on the one thing you don't like *sigh*

I'm sorry, but your attitude is intolerable. Work your own problems out.

You ask for advice, people give you good advice, and then you cry, bitch and moan about it.

There is no easy solution. Either do what needs to be done or shut the fuck up. Pretty simple. Whining isn't going to solve your problems nor is feeling sorry for yourself.

What the hell were you expecting from this thread anyway? A get rich quick scheme? 8)
