Death at Bonnaroo

^^^I don't mean any disrespect to you. I don't even know you so I.... I don't know you

you're only a pretender if you're like the author.... who just seems like a little bitch who knew that he doesn't like crazy loud high mother fuckers or people who sell nitrous but he went anyways

I just read something along the lines that when someone died in 2007 at this festival, it was only the sixth death in the festivals history! I think that's pretty remarkable and a testament to how safe it is

fair enough, and trust me, no disrespect taken. i was merely making a point.

yea, this guy has probably out grown bonnaroo and it's time for him to hang it up. i have never once gone to bonnaroo because of that very fact. not that i've out grown it, just that it's not my scene. camping in hot ass tennessee with a bunch of young kids spun out of their mind does not appeal to me no matter what the line up is. i think bonnaroo is great, it's just not for me. i'll take telluride bluegrass or wannee if i'm gonna go to a festival.

regardless, i stand by my opinion that i don't find the article disrespectful in the least.

My condolences go out to his family and friends.... but what I am wondering is.. I heard 7, possibly 9 people died at Ultra Musical Festival this past March in Miami. but wtf.. where are the articles about UMF?? Let me say this... definitely more than half of all deaths were dehydration related.... I can honestly say I fainted at one point after taking 2 rolls in the 90 degree heat at 4 pm after drinking vodka from 11-2. thankfully some kind strangers GAVE me two bottles of water, smoked a cig with me, tried to help me find my friends, and when that didn't happen... we ended up hanging out till the fest closed. My advice to prevent deaths @ EDC, Bonnaroo, Ultra, DEMF, etc..... can be accomplished when the production company steps up their game and the attendees stick to some simple rules.

First if all I think attendees should drink less alcohol than they usually do, DONT mix hard drugs & liquor, if taking ecstasy (TEST THE PILLS), drink at LEAST 32 ounces of water before going into the fest(even more if drinking alcohol or doing drugs .... BEFORE entering the fest.. and os; if you know you will be taking MDMA the night before est lightly tha day, get a LOT of sleep, and drink a dcent amount of water......), and eat a healthy breakfast with lots of fruit. Drink 12 ounces of water and in addition, drink fresh squeezed juice if available. Even if you plan on consuming no alcohol or drugs, follow the h20 advice! TRUST ME,

Depending how much you drink/use drugs or if you are straight edge will determine how much water you will need to intake. If you drink alcohol heavily...12 ounces of water an hour is necessary.. If alcohol is being used with other drugs add at least 6 ounces on top of the 12... NEVER MIX MDMA and MAOI's. If you are drinking heavily, mixing with drugs, and are in the heat (under the sun, summer festival weather obviously) you will definitely need to drink 24 ounces of water every hour.... use the bathroom frequently even if difficult to go (reffering when using mdma or opiates, its normal don't worry) Shit run some water to get the flow going if need be.... flooding your brain with water can kill you so you must make sure to use the bathroom regularly. And if you didn't already know this, but always have a friend look after you.

As far as the promoters; they need to sell a reasonable amount of tickets to comfortably cover overhead without overcrowding the place [hard summer last year <<<<<cough>>>>>] to the point its hard to get from stage to stage, violates fire ordinances, and makes it hard for medical personal to reach someone who does have heatstroke, dehydration, drug or alcohol o.d. I bet the person who died at Bonnaroo might have had a chance but it probably took them a longggg time to even start working on the guy.... I heard at ultra on the second day it took 25 minutes for them to reach a man having a heart attack! All festivals should have 10 medical personal per 1000 attendees and 1 for every 10 staff members.... Parking for festivals should never be more than 10 dollars, water should be allowed to be brought in (assuming its sealed), and inside the festival water bottles should be between 1-3 dollars... at the price they buy, I wouldn't be surprised if they got 12 ounce bottle for 15 cents.... Food should ALWAYS be available if its a day and night fest, but yet again. the foods gotta be affordable and have some variety.

for the standard stuff; hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, polish sausage, nachos, chips

more fancy; gyro, salads, shishkabobs, scallops (some kind of seafodod)

Any fest SHOULD go to at least till midnight and if it ends at midnight or prior (rare), the city you are in will most likely have clubs that party till 3. Some go till 5 am standard, and theres a few special cities that don't close, they serve 24/7, and if not they serve usually till 11 am. IMO if the festival promoters don't throw a good after party for a reasonable price, they are missing out on TONS of money... a good after party for a decent price will generally sell out... and occasionally if its a special guest or surprise act you will go just cuz. even if you go to the party the after party is FOR... ha... in fact I woke up at 5:#0 once and went to an afterparty and hasd a blast... I got there an hour before the sun was up and it went till noon. It was weird waking up to darkness, to head to a rave lol. At least they had the windows covered up so the lazer lights and shit still looked good and I wasn't annoyed by glare. I have a bunch more to say but im off topic and its getting late.

you ever been invaded by those awful human beings in the nitrous mafia? obviously not. trust me, the baseball bat was a good call.

Just on the Phish tour.

I just didn't understand the use in pulling out a bat. Was he going to get beaten up if he didn't buy nitrous? I think not.

You tell me, I haven't been to Bonaroo although many of my friends have.

it sounds like some guys had set up a tank near his tent and were selling ballons.

nitrous tanks are very loud, unless you use a "muffler", when you're filling ballons. when i say very loud i mean VERY LOUD!. you can probably hear a nitrous tank from at least 1/2 mile away, maybe farther...

so he chased them off. which, even though the guy comes off as kinda dickish, i can't blame him for not wanting to be in the area of a tank.

I feel bad for this kid and his family. :(

He could have died from various factors and not all "molly" or pressed pills are pure MDMA as people do put other drugs in there like meth and even RCs based on what I've seen on pillreports.

Was the author using drugs at all or just drinking booze and caffeine? He wrote about the "right substances" to stay awake to see bands.

He also said how a huge festival like Bonnaroo is not for everyone and it sounds like it's not for him at all.

I have friends who are into festivals but they avoid Bonnaroo because of the madness and the size of it and how crazy everything is.
