Syd;
Thank you for your interest in ______ Monthly. Unfortunately your poems and stories are not a good fit for our magazine. Please understand this is our final word on the matter.
Your musings about cummin and drinking too much are all too common. You fail to cover any new ground or even reinvent the classic topics which you seem so partial. In reality there is nothing romantic about destroying yourself and those around you. I don’t mean to sound harsh or cruel, but you should understand that bad writing is a affliction that affects many of us. Furthermore your grammar and spelling are atrocious, making your writing nearly impossible to read. Some writers should stick to their notebooks.
On a personal note I would like to suggest therapy, years of it, rehab, suicide watch and counseling. Give the pen a rest until you have some things sorted out or at least keep your exaggerated glamorizations confined to the journal. I couldn’t sleep at night if I thought your overdone stories might infect someone.
I hope you get the help you need and this letter finds you better off than you seem.
