Yeah, the bankers were incredibly stupid (never has a financial crisis been so widely predicted; anyone could read about the impending doom in the fucking Economist months before it happened), but then so were all the people who took out loans that they were never going to be able to pay back.

I don't own a TV. It's too much of a rip off to pay for a license.

You don't need to pay a license for owning a TV; it's the same basis that you don't need a TV license if you own a PC/Laptop. You need to pay if you're accessing live television broadcasts (as in live from the broadcast tower, not "live" from location). You can deny entry, but they may come back with a police escort and warrant; that gives you quite a bit of time to pull the aerial. If you're rolling with a Sky dish or cable box flashing their tits on the side of your house, then you may as well just answer the door with the fine money ready, as they'll be looking through your slightly winking curtains at you powerbaiting to the free 10 minute show on Hot UK.
