So my personality is very dual in nature, always has been. Doesnt help that I am a gemini because that probably lends the most to it. When I say I experience a feeling of duality in my being the feelings are on opposite extremes of each other. I am as mean as I am sweet...as spiritual as much as I am not, as dark as I am light. I was curious if anyone else feels they truly meet the idea of duality, not in the sense of two personalities though mind you. When I have these feelings I am still the same person but my ideas and the way I think become day and night(which does allow me an interesting perspective). I do not wish to get rid of this, rather I would like to learn to control it better,or is there such a thing with true duality?*shrugs* maybe I just have borderline personality disorder or something idk,but any info would be appreciated.

Your wording is a little hard to figure out but as far as I can tell its a good thing

Most people have duality, they just don't want to accept one side as its seen as negative. Sometimes they have been taught to ignore one side. Basically, IMHO, denial plays a large role, also society brainwashing people can hide/destroy big parts of them.

If it weren't for that, most people would probably feel the way you do

I agre with you, I feel I am pretty balanced, which in capitalist America makes me come off as some sort of weird hippie. Also makes it hard to have hard opinions on things that your average person discusses, or feels strongly about. I constantly play devils advocate with myself without trying

Gemini does represent duality, but it also represents human exchange. Gemini is a mutable air sign that loves communication, exchanging ideas, and mental processes. You might be confusing duality with not being able to make up your mind, something that an ungrounded Gemini would have problems with.

It's normal for humans to have a range of feelings and experiences. You can't always be light, can't always be happy, etc. If you find that you fluctuate too uncontrollably, then you might lack grounding in your life. Geminis are intensely curious but their curiosity often has no real purpose behind it; they're curious for the sake of being curious.

Duality as a spiritual concept relates to the illusion of separation, which is the greatest illusion in life. Instead of seeing Oneness, you see everything as being separate and categorically different. Everything is from Source and is Source right now. Ego tries to separate things because ego itself wants to be separate and unique in order to try and prove itself to be real. Once the mind is quieted along with ego (through meditation, usually), you can learn to sink back into Oneness.

*** Philosophical (West)

cf. Heraclitus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unity_of_opposites

** Psychological

cf. Carl jung: "The shadow personifies everything that the subject refuses to acknowledge about himself" and represents "a tight passage, a narrow door, whose painful constriction no one is spared who goes down to the deep well".[17] If and when 'an individual makes an attempt to see his shadow, he becomes aware of (and often ashamed of) those qualities and impulses he denies in himself but can plainly see in others — such things as egotism, mental laziness, and sloppiness; unreal fantasies, schemes, and plots; carelessness and cowardice; inordinate love of money and possessions — ...[a] painful and lengthy work of self-education". + other link

*** Literature

cf. Hermann Hesse (in particular Steppenwolf and Narcissus and Goldmund)
