Physicians in Massachusetts told the Boston Globe that they were approached by DEA agents at their homes and offices and given an ultimatum: Stop working with marijuana companies or lose federal drug prescribing licenses. Some doctors said their livelihoods depend on their ability to prescribe painkillers and other medication, making the choice not much of a choice at all.

The Senate clearly needs to act on the movements by the House of Representatives to protect state medicinal Cannabis programs.

It seems the DEA will begin losing teeth soon and they're gearing up to steal as much money as they can before they fizzle out.

Why am I not surprised?

These bullies are running out of straws to grasp, and now they're resorting to threats.

Very classy DEA. The quicker you asshats go bye bye, the sooner doctors won't be afraid anymore to treat their patients which require scheduled medication properly.

"To protect the status quo, and to serve our own financial interests."

hold on....didnt i read an article that obama specifically told states with mmj and the dea to lay the fuck off?

Yep, but Michelle Leonhart and the rest of the DEA's insubordination shows how dirty these motherfuckers really are.

They should all be charged with breaking the law.

Edit - This is bloody outrageous! Why the hell won't Obama grow a pair and put them in their place? The guy is way too passive in situations where he has a damn good reason to be assertive. Not saying he should act aggressively, but remind them where they stand Mr. President - please, for the love of all that should be just, but isn't, do something.

Here I go. Who is Bill Delahunt? Well early in his career he was an asst. DA prosecuting hundreds for simple cannabis possession here in the Bay State. For a while he was a state rep. and eventually made his way to the US Congress where he spent years wheeling and dealing. He retires and comes back home to start a consulting firm, apparently to supplement his very generous govt. pension and bennys that the rest of us could only dream about. Soon after,Massachusetts voters approved a medical marijuana law which took effect on Jan. 1 2013 with a provision allowing up to 35 dispensaries to open via a license from the state DPH. The DPH decided to create a very arduous ,expensive and very competitive licensing process for the first 20 dispensaries. It required a non-refundable $50,000.00 for those applicants that made it to the second stage of the process(around 200 made it to this stage). These applicants were then vetted by the DPH using a scoring system that included backround checks, business experience, capital reserves, etc. with 160 being the highest score one could get.Well, long story short, the Honorable Bill Delahunt won 3 out of 3 of these coveted licenses making him the biggest drug dealer in the state with a virtual monopoly on the entire southeast Mass. region, and with lower scores than most other applicants for that region! Naturally lawsuits were filed and there was a public outroar that has thrown the whole MMJ licensing process into disarray to the point that they may have to start all over again. There's a lot more to this story aside from the Delahunt angle that has caused the delay but the gall of giving a former prosecutor 3 licenses reeks of hypocrisy and corruption. This state is one of the most corrupt and criminal places in American politics and I'm embarrassed to call it home.

What a bunch of thugs and complete morons. Giving ultimatums to drs who have more knowledge in their pinky than their entire bodies. Those dea pigs don't know shit about marijuana and are making it hell on drs just trying to make medical advancements. I think they are getting scared that one day the dea will have to let ppl go and they won't have as huge of a budget anymore to buy millitaey grade weapons and not learn shit in the meantime. The dea is by far theost corrupt fov agency, well mayne next to the NSA.
