Legalized marijuana is a horrific and frightening demon that will result in many social casualties across America; at least that is the opinion of Drug Enforcement Administration chief of operations James Capra, who during a recent Senate hearing, went on a wild-eyed tirade, calling the elimination of marijuana prohibition in the United States “reckless and irresponsible.”

“It scares us,” Capra said during the hearing. “Every part of the world where this has been tried, it has failed time and time again.”

After voters legalized marijuana in Colorado and Washington in 2012, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it would not intervene with individual state marijuana laws as a means for enforcing the federal ban. However, when one senator made mention of this federal policy, Capra responded, “Marijuana is still a Schedule I controlled substance…it’s illegal, so we’re still enforcing law.”

Capra admitted that agents have been scouring Colorado since the first day of legalized recreation sales, and says he is shocked by what is going on throughout most of the state.

Translated as: "Without marijuana there's not enough of an illegal drug problem in America to even justify the existence of the DEA. Please don't fire me, I'm not qualified for anything."

Where exactly has marijuana been tried after it's prohibition started? I'm confused by his statement.

if he is referring to places like amsterdam and portugal, i wouldn't call those failures.

^^It's a straight up lie. Everywhere that cannabis has been decriminalized/legalized/medicalized it has been a huge success in every metric.
(except where there have been failures/hiccups due to existing prohibitionist statutes/technicalities)

Of coarse he is scared a large majority of their resources are used for marijuana prohibition and they would get severe cut backs in federal funding and would have way less property to seize as more and more states legalize; not to mention to will no longer be viewed as heroes.

I guess countless people getting murdered at little 10 year old kids getting involved in dealing and assassinations is ok as long as it makes them look like they are making a difference when they stop a minuscule fraction of the drugs coming into our country.

Capra also believe that federal drug agents are misunderstood. “People think that DEA and law enforcement officers around the world are interested in Billy and his bong in his basement,” he said. “What DEA has always been interested in is the trafficking groups that want Billy to be puffing on his bong.”

Dick head.

Loads of facebook comments after the article on the link too.

We should make special labour camps in Alaska for former DEA agents and assorted drug warriors. They will become vicious in there death throes as they are forced out of there unnecessary and cruel jobs.

Hopefully sometime in the next few years he might be qualified to work security at a shitty run down mall somewhere. No gun, no real power just lots of war stories no one will care about.

I think we should just stick them in regular old jails where they are sure to make plenty of friends.

If I worked for the DEA I'd be checking craigslist help wanted section...

Come on, there's no such thing in the US as a broke former cop. Most of them retire in their fifties with six-figure pensions, which means hundreds of thousands of dollars every year for the rest of their lives, for doing nothing. All of the top cops go into the private security industry and triple their salaries too. Police work is one of our most lucrative national industries.

No, this guy really believes what he's saying.

This whole war has been a mess and now that its being resolved they are scared for their jobs.
They deserve to sit in the cells they sent drug dealers and users all this time for ever being ok with incarcerating the innocent.
Fuck the dea.
And Fuck you mr capra.

Fucking swine are really sweating now lol. I reckon the whole police force are, thinking about how less "work" they'll have to do, and shock! horror! - people can enjoy getting high right out in the open, and the swine can do jack but sit there and watch. I say let the bastards all sweat; they've had the power to completely fuck peoples lives for far too long for possessing a herb less toxic, harmful, and addictive than the tobacco they've been selling to us for so long, while hypocritically lecturing, prosecuting, and locking people in prisons for years. So, I'm gonna feel sympathy about police departments panicking about job security?

Fuck, no. Let them squirm.
