So we all have our smoking routines, most people on here liight up when & where they can which is cool. But there comes a time when you think hey maybe i'm smoking too much and go on a break of some kind.

Now I know weed withdrawals are nothing, and I know what to expect, a bit of irritability, lack of appetite and trouble sleeping for a couple days. That I can deal with - It's that overwhelming feeling of being boed even when doing something you usually enjoy I just can't seem to shake off, that feeling that sticks long after the inability to sleep has gone...

idk anyone got anything I can do to take my mind off this feeling?

I am going through this atm, stopped smoking for exams and am bored all the time. Running has helped a little bit and i guess trying to find other new hobbies. I know what you mean cos i used to love smoking and then watching tv etc. but now find that tv pretty boring without weed.

^yup. when i was fat and withdrawling i just went for 2-3 hour walks in parts of my area that id never been. it was both endorphin-producing and intellectually stimulating. theres something special about going someplace new. when i lost some weight i began doing cardio and lifting and i felt even better. exercise does a lot to bring your appetite and sleep patterns back as well. make it past a week and you'll likely find yourself more interested in other things like reading, playing video games, sex, etc.

I find that someone smokes for a reason or to deal with a problem they are having .

and If your just smoking for the psycadellic experience then you should be able to stop blazing when you want .

But op is obviously smoking for a reason or because of an underlying problem .

Op you should identify this problem and once you've found it see what you can do about it .

For example I just found out that going to school makes me want to haze up . Now it's summer break I don't really have a desire to blaze !
When at school I craved blazing to escape the harsh realities of shitty high school .

Maybe you have a problem like me in that sense ^

I'm quite the same James, I find im smoking because i'm not satisfied with the life I have. I told myself I would stop smoking when I would finally get a new job and a new car, you know, when i'll be happy. Maybe when I have a gf too. And i'm not saying that like i'm not doing anything to achieve this, i'm trying, but just doesn't work out. To ease it up I smoke.

But I know what you mean newbie, it's just the sad part of using drugs, but you know you'll kick it. I would say try to get a hobbie, that will occupy you and you'll be interested in, so you won't think about weed.

If I were you I would do it backwards. I would stop smoking so that you can get the job and house you want and car and GF, then blaze like you've never blazed before once you get your shit together. Making sure said blazing isn't affecting the togetherness of said shit.

NR you sound like a common addict of cannabis, who is use to doing everything stoned. I know I am. I believe your biggest problem is the fact that you are going to have to re-learn a lot things. You are going to have to re-discover all those activities you once found interesting while sober. This may take some time. It may take A LOT of time, but you can rediscover how to be interested in something again, without pot.

I would recommend staying off pot, and remember what it was like to be a young child discovering what you like and don't like about the world around you. This should help you re-learn how to enjoy your life and activities with or without pot.

The truth is, you learned how to enjoy everything while high....now you are going to have to do all over again while sober.

^ Shit , that disturbed me.

I find, for my self at least, that most things I've learned to do on one state of consciousness are often difficult to perform while in another.

Op trust me . If your life was good/not-stressful you wouldn't have a desire to blaze.
Or if you did it would just be once in a while.

Like right now it's summer holidays in highschool and Im hardly blazing , when during school I smoke 4-5 times a day !

It's stress, depression, and generally coping with the shite lives we lead that makes us want to light up ad escape from this dreaded world

I Doubt it's stess james martin, I've been out of school working a shitty job for nearly 3 years now. And it's basically the easiest job in the world lol.

Deppression it may be, I recently broke up with my missus (3 months away from 5 years..) but I don't feel down all the time, if I just get too losti n thought and end up thinking about her...

I Dunno, wolfgang and james martin cheers for teh good advice. guess i'll just excercise more and do my damndest to smoke less. S'only weed init hah. Cheers geezers.

Haha, yup you pretty much described me.

Exercise works great for me. I do like to exercise high but when I'm out of weed I exercise anyway and I'm still pretty darned stress free. And I still have a good time, I just pick something a little challenging.

Exercise will probably help with your appetite and sleeping too.

The key to avoiding sober boredom is to change your perspective on the sober / high duality. Each state of mind is equal in value and merit, but we place intoxication on an undeserving pedestal, because when we were first introduced to it, we were just emerging from a long and numbing binge on sobriety, and the novelty of the experience made it something deeper.

Now that you have become adjusted to the state of cannabis intoxication, you will cross the threshold once again, and live life in a novel realm -- that is, IF you remember to look for the beauty around you. Relish the newfound clarity that this transition brings.

This is a good post. I agree, cherish the clarity. With time you will learn to enjoy being not high.

i haven't been high or used any other [illicit] drugs in a long time now. what keeps me sane is routines. i eat the same breakfast every day, do the same length of workout every day, write as many pages every day (writing is what i do, some people do music or whatever) and such. it's tough to get into a routine just because of how long it takes (2-3 weeks) but when you learn to properly schedule your time you get to instinctively know that you can't afford to both get high and keep up with your schedule. at that point, if you want to blaze you actually have to schedule time specifically for that so it doesn't JUST HAPPEN whenever
